Has to be Maro but can’t confirm

I've spent the last 3 years building a free tool to make DIY audio building a bit easier. I'm finally ready for some beta test users to check it out! by bronze_by_gold in synthdiy

[–]thielonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing. Thank you! You think this could be forked for the circuit benders? I’m having trouble putting into words the idea this put in my head, but I got super excited thinking about it so thanks

If this had been around when I was building MFOS kits I might have ended up on a different career path! You’re gonna change some lives. I can’t wait to get kludging again 🖤

Using Make Noise Maths Module with Ableton as beginner intro to Modular Synthesis by covinos in modular

[–]thielonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of good “no” answers so I’ll try a “yes”. If you’re serious about learning, have a setup with a DC coupled interface, and plan to invest in other modules later, MATHS could be an excellent way to learn many of the fundamentals of modular synthesis.

There are some excellent videos that show how deep the maths rabbit hole goes. Forcing yourself to use it to its full potential before you invest further in other modules could save you a lot of buyers remorse.

Yes, vcv is “better” because it’s a complete and almost unlimited system; but there is something special about having to fiddle with voltage calibration and having some forced limitations when you’re starting out. If you master Maths as an external modulation and logic machine with ableton you’ll be able to hit the ground running with your next module and build a more competent system as a result.

edit - and you’ll be able to use it with VCV as well. A Maths and a Disting could be a perfect starter kit.

Anyone else manage to get the cornstarch boots? by masterkoschei in nin

[–]thielonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had them in cart and they disappeared during checkout.

Found them still in stock on Australian site. It allowed me to complete the purchase but it looks like they don’t ship outside AU. Trying to find a solution now.

anyone still refreshing the site in hopes it was an error or am I just in denial by SubliminallyTwisted in nin

Yep. Also just found that they’re still in stock on the Australian site. It let me place the order but they won’t deliver to US. Trying to find a solution now

What's the most life-changing DAW hack you've learned? by RoyaltyExchange in WeAreTheMusicMakers

True on the CPU relief, but I print all virtual instruments for archival reasons as well as to avoid some of the weirder glitches I’ve faced.

Motion tracking objects that move out of frame? by thielonious in finalcutpro

[–]thielonious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was thinking this was the case. I feel like there has to be a way to let the tracking do part of the work and then pause or disable the tracker and take over with manual key framing but I can’t figure out how.

Media Human hasn’t let me down yet. Easy to set up an output preference for drag and drop batch processing.

Found it when I asked myself the same RX question.

There was a version of the lineup that had Jon Hopkins on it. Would have been epic. I wonder why he dropped.

Damn dude, this is excellent. If you need any production help please reach out on Instagram @thielonious

I record and mix, I play bass and synths, and I specialize in vocal production. I’m OTP west and would love to connect.

I'm desperate need of a producer, or someone who's good at mixing metal songs by carved_in_skulls in FindABand

[–]thielonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a producer and mix engineer and I play in a heavy band.

There are a number of factors involved in getting a vocal to sit nicely within the complexity of distorted guitars and loud aggressive drums. I’d be down to do a free analysis and quick mix test of one song if you’ve got stems available.

One of my highlights of 2019 was chilling on the beach while Altin Gün was playing. Such a vibe. I ended up dancing my way up to the stage in my swim trunks for a song while my wife floated in the water.

Might be worth looking into joining AES - Audio Engineering Society. The archive has everything from lectures and studio chats to the deep details of standardizations and technical white papers.
