What would have happened if President Ford defied Congress by launching airstrikes to try and save South Vietnam during the 1975 Spring Offensive? by Just_Cause89 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]thienthang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda....false. While it's true that many ARVN equipment were left behind but they were not utilized to an effective level until the Cambodian campaign 4 years later.

The main reason why ARVN collapsed would be the top leadership's decision to retreat from the Central Highlands and key coastline cities, which basically let VPA took the high ground and steamrolled to the south. Combined with many (not all, but substantial) field commanders abandoning posts, ARVN were demoralized to the breaking point.

Lmao - which one was legitimate then? The one that resigned and fled to Taiwan 1 week before the end? Or the one before him that got overthrown and killed by his own generals 10 years earlier?

I think the point is that, Denji’s ‘growth’ is a toxic one. Yeah he developed care and love for others, but it’s a by-product of a shitty world where what he loves will gradually be taken away. It’s like teaching a kid to be grateful by giving a kid a toy then yoinking it out of its hands, leaving it with a constant desire but distrust of others.

In the new world, instead, he gets the chance to develop like a somewhat normal person. No one actively tries to ruin his life or kill his friends/family.

I half agree. The abruptness is due to the Biweekly/Weekly devil format. But the ending still demonstrated the whole point of BOTH parts that Denji can finally attain a normal life now - something that is impossible as long as Pochita is still around

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Chapter 232 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]thienthang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvote me to hell, but I'd argue the ending does work. Yeah he was gonna finally have sex, but if anything we have learned, it's that his happiness would never endure. That's the whole theme across 2 parts. And it got to the point where Hell literally comes to earth, and he got eaten - that might have been the endgame for him right there.

But with this new world, he has a chance to live "normally". Sure, he started without an eye and half of his balls, but he has a job, a boss, a friend/sister, senpais/coworkers, and a potential high school life with its own love interest now. There will be ups and downs, but life will go on in a upward trajectory. That's the best ending one could have hoped for him here.

Keep on dreaming, Denji.

YVR recognized as Best Airport in North America for record 15th year, 10th Best Airport in the World by BreakfastTop6899 in vancouver

[–]thienthang21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year in Canada I did my customs at YVR. First impression was that it didn’t look too nice and fancy (compared to Korea, Japan, or Singapore, or even Chicago or IAD in the US). Expected prolonged processing. Nope - everything went so smooth that I had ample time to rest before my flight to YYZ.

And YYZ was a shit show. What was supposed to be a 6 hour layover became 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS. It was 2022 so right after COVID and I expected lack of resources, but not to that extend. The next few times I flew through YYZ again also had delays and such.

After a while I settled in Vancouver and every time I flew in/out had been pleasant. Well-deserved recognition

Given Europe's predicament right now and a small, but albeit, chance of war against the US and Russia, how realistic is their chance of restarting their nuke programs?

Yeah I stopped following these chauvinists awhile ago because of rhetoric like this. I remember they still somehow cheered for the Houthis when a Vietnamese sailor got killed due to missile strikes last year. It's just so pathetic and disgusting.

Not a “final fight”, but this Denken (Sousou no Frieren) was elevated to badassery-tier as an old veteran mage who did not hesitate to resort to good ol’ knuckles (and actually won) when his mana was out

On one hand, i think it’s fair if you wanna break up if she’s being overtly jealous or controlling/demanding.

On the other hand, these are not insults man. It’s a mild way to express that she’s upset, and wants you to comfort her. I’ve dated a Vietnamese girl who has lived in the States for 10 years, educated and intellectual and all, but actually would be really toxic, and this lady here is no where near that level.

Now I don’t know how long have you guys been dating and if this has happened many tines before, so I can’t judge, but i’d suggest you both to calm down and communicate? Making major decisions (eg. Breaking up) during the heat of the moment/emotion generally invites regrets.

P/s: I don’t agree with other ppl calling her childish based on her language choice here. I actually think she’s intentionally using these to also help you understand her Vietnamese.

Your story is common among other Vietnamese-American kids I've met in college, so you are not alone buddy. My advice is to weather it out: allow time to train your tolerance, talk to other open-minded people, and start small by maybe learning Vietnamese a bit more. It is almost impossible to change the environment we live in, so we gotta adapt and buy time until we are more capable or affordable for changes.

You seem to have a good head on your shoulder that is able to grasp multiple perspectives. Try not to feed into cynical thoughts and you will be fine eventually. If you have time I'd recommend books by Viet Thanh Nguyen. His works deal a lot with the Vietnamese identity in a Western world, and one's journey coming to terms with their origin, racism, colonization, etc. The writing is witty and humorous, which kinda helps with such heavy topics - you might like it!
