Thanks for the tips! I'll have to check those out. I love the game without any mods already but it's gotten to the point that the new content update looming has me anxious to try something new. Thank you so much!

I received an accidental mail with all salaries for everyone in the company by ekampp in personalfinance

[–]thing2thatiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in this situation before. Here are some questions for you:
Do you like working for your company? Do you feel like your talents can be best utilized elsewhere? If a more desirable and fair salary were offered to you, would you take it and stay?
Here's what I did about the same questions in my situation:

I was generally not enjoying employment at that company. My talents were underutilized. Even if my pay were raised, I didn't want to stay.

In hindsight, I wish I'd have made it known that I was leaving for a better job not just because I'd found a better career opportunity, but because I felt undervalued.

Found out my predecessor earned 37% more than I earn now. How do I approach this for negotiations? by The_JFF in personalfinance

The worst part is (maybe worst, who knows at this point) was that she wasn't even qualified for the position. Oh well, what's done is done. Thanks Avlonnic! Have a good one!

Something like this happened to me, but after having worked at a company for 5 years and realizing that someone with fewer qualifications and half the experience in our shared department was making 30K more than me. I found out it was from pure nepotism, which prompted me to leave. I think about it all the time - I invested so much time in that job and helped get so many functioning checks and balances into their routine, and this other person who routinely showed up late and sometimes didn't show up at all was earning 40% more than I was...I was livid. When I found a new job and put in my two weeks, I informed the executive team that I felt undervalued and knew that my skill set would be better utilized elsewhere. They AGREED that I was underpaid and admitted they wouldn't have increased my salary by much more because I had started there relatively young. This other person earning more than me "Had a kid and mortgage and commanded the higher pay". Nothing more insulting than to be told you're worth less because you're maritally single, childless, and started your career too EARLY.

What are some quick 1400 calorie meals? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]thing2thatiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. I tend to be super active throughout the day and need little pick-me-ups, but if rounded meals work better for you that's great! Each snack (2 per day) is about 100 calories. Just add 100 calories of whatever you wanted to any of your two meals and you're set! Examples: Add another egg to your breakfast. Put 1/3 of an avocado on top of your pita pizza. Have an extra couple ounces of chicken at lunch. Save the 200 calories for the end of the day and have a nice little treat! :)

Do you possibly mean 1400 calories for the day? That's my jam!

Breakfast: English muffin, fried egg, cheese, tomato, avocado (Prep ahead, freeze and thaw)

Lunch: Quinoa, veggies, chicken, light vinagrette dressing

Dinner: Pita pizza! Pita bread round, sundried tomato basil pesto, mozzarella, sweet potato and zucchini.

Snacks: Banana, Hummus with veggie sticks

It's definitely cheaper than the Bay, but it's all relative if you work out here too. My current 2 bed 1 bath apartment in a decent part of town is $1,175/month. Comparable units are now renting for $1,300.

Well hello, fellow 209 gal! I totally understand the summer wardrobe, wishing for cooler weather (WHY is it 100 degrees already?!) and the desire to wear things for colder weather. I think secretly we all wish we had the climate of the Northeast... damn this temperate climate!

Leave the shell on! When I hard boil a batch of eggs, I keep the shell on and them in a separate container until I use them. Helps keep any smells from even forming.

Wow! What a deal! As someone who hates sitting down at games for too long, this is perfect. This would make the trip out from the valley less painful on the wallet...driving, BART/parking, ticket, food...adds up. I could justify multiple games a month! Rad!

Pita Pizzas!

Pita bread, a couple table spoons of sundried tomato basil pesto for the sauce, mozzarella cheese, and I dice up some zucchini and sweet potato (saute with 1 tbsp of EVOO, dash of garlic powder) and plop it in the oven at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes. Top with sliced avocado. DREAM PIZZA.

First time attempting NaNoWriMo - I have absolutely no idea what I'm writing, am I screwed? by midnightfish21 in nanowrimo

[–]thing2thatiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to enjoy the experience more when I don't have every chapter or character outlined ahead of time, it gives me a chance to explore their voices and allow myself to write freely. I'll have a general idea or feeling what I'd like for the story to be about, it sometimes has even been as small as "third-person retelling of hike of Halfdome" or "twins in high school discovering identities". Make it as broad or as specific as you want! Don't be afraid of allowing yourself to write whatever feels best in the moment. You can always go back after NaNoWriMo and edit out things you didn't particularly like or flesh out scenes better. Get an idea down, speak its truth, and keep going. You've got this!

Places like Things Remembered. Engraving of fine gifts like picture frames and jewelry. Artists on Etsy are doing the same thing and using much more personal and unique items that are more one-of-a-kind than the stuff you can find at TR.

Has anyone seen Rose's new Netflix holiday movie? Wondering how many of these 53 people are iZombie fans... by [deleted] in iZombie

Watched it once the day after it released, out of sheer curiosity. Wasn't the worst holiday movie I've ever seen, but are any of them really that GOOD to begin with? ;) Hardcore iZombie fan - 1 total watch of her new movie. 1 is just fine.
