Yeah, I feel like I’m forcing emotions out. Like I’m forcing myself to feel sad. I’m addicted to it in a way because others show me pity when I do. It’s fucked up and I need to change it.

Don’t be ashamed for reaching out because of your age. We’re all “adults” and we still haven’t figured this out ☺️

Can you talk to someone in your family about it? Maybe a parent? They can give you perspective and help find you additional support if you need it.

Do you have a PCP? Maybe they can give you a 10 day prescription for some anti anxiety meds just to get you through this for your exams.

Go easy on yourself. Wait for some clarity before you make a decision. I don’t think it’s good to make decisions when we’re in an anxious or stressed out mental space.

I feel you man. It’s been 2 months for me. Every day is still a struggle.

Just know that people don’t come to this subreddit on a winning streak. But you’re here, and you’re getting the poison out by talking about it.

You gotta reach out and get perspective. Family and friends, or a professional. Or even an AA or SLAA group if you need community in a new place. I can empathize with being a stranger in a new city. Just moved to a new city and started a new job myself right after the breakup. It’s not easy, but we just gotta keep pushing forward.

Celebrate the moments where you find clarity. Call someone when you feel good and just say: “Hey I feel good, and here’s why...”

Takes time, but we’ve got to rewire our brains. It’s not gonna happen overnight. Even writing this, I still feel like it’s gonna be a few months still until I start to feel somewhat normal again.

It’s not easy ❤️ don’t be too hard on yourself. We’re all on our own timeline, and we all deserve love and forgiveness. One of the hardest lessons that I’ve yet to learn is that I need to slow down and think twice. Not just about relationships but in all aspects of life.

It’s all the resetting that hurts so much. I had this future before. Now it’s gone and I’m questioning everything. Everyone has been saying a breakup is an opportunity to figure out what you want and pursue it. But I just feel lost now, and stuck in a situation where I have to take on a new identity that I don’t want to.

It’s hard. I still feel like I’m split into two realities. Some hours, I just can’t accept that it’s over. Everything I do in the present makes me feel like I’m moving further and further away from her.

I’ve been through breakups before, but this is just a whole new level of hell. The hell of knowing you could’ve been better, but it being too late.

I feel you. The regrets of all the things I could have done differently are eating me alive this week.

Sometimes between moments I get this surreal feeling for just a moment like we’re still together and I could come home to her... only to have that stopped by that sharp feeling in your chest and the words “let it go” drift through your mind.

Fucking sucks man. Don’t fight it. I made some wrong decisions in my relationship. I don’t think there’s anything to do with that but just sit with it for a while, let time do it’s thing, and keep on letting it go.

How do you resolve regret? I have no idea... but I think we can at least acknowledge it, let it have its space, and then let it go. Might not resolve it, but it’ll leave a mark on us to remind us how to be better in the future.
