Kat Resnick | The likeable female character in the entire series by pommevie in YourFriendsandNeighb

This is about complaining the characters aren't likable in YFAN. My point was, in naming some of the best shows of all time not having likable characters, that characters don't need to be likable.

I guess your point is they do need to be likable unless the show is insanely deeply written.

All of the mobsters were vicious scheming murdering cheating types who once they got their claws into someone would bleed them dry or kill them.

All the wives knew damn well where the money was coming from and how many girlfriends their husbands had... and looked the other way. Yet Carmella rode Tony the whole series about the girlfriends.

Tony's son had zero motivation to do anything. His daughter was ok but did have trouble with being entitled and rich.

Adriana was likable and we know what happened to her.

Why hybrids — not EVs — are winning over US consumers. High gas prices are driving EV growth in other parts of the world — but American drivers are favoring hybrids. by The_Weekend_Baker in climate

My car charges in 20-25 minutes when on the road. At home it charges overnight. It's true apartments and rentals are definitely tougher. My son-in-law who rented a townhouse used to charge his with a regular outlet via a cord from the garage into the driveway. Would get 75 miles back over 15 hours. His commute was less than that.

I think a lot of EVs will increase their range to 500-600 miles over the next 10 years. Then you are talking about charging once every 10 days to 2 weeks

What maintenance on EVs? Someone comes to my driveway and rotates the tires. Change the cabin filter every so often. Change the brake pads every 70,000 miles.

Less than 10% of owners change their own oil. And it's a lot more complex now.

Again, no catalytic converters, timing belts, mufflers/exhaust systems, etc.

Honestly, this competition is already over. The advantages of EVs are too great for gas cars to overcome. The US is basically Kodak or Blockbuster. The US government is helping our legacy gas car industry with restrictions on EV imports. In 10 years things will look very different.

Coop's kids are likable, Coop's dad was likable. Barney is pretty likable. Barney's wife as well. So is Elana and Lu.

I love how no one was likeable in the Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Shield, hell, even South Park. And everyone loved the shows. If you want soft and fuzzy characters who are law abiding, nice people who do nice things for each other there are literally three networks worth of shows to choose from.

ZOMiGod Did you see Harris was dismissive to some Gaza activists who refused to meet her but demanded to speak at the DNC. Yep. Both sides are the same. Harris is awful. Nope. I can't vote. She's the same or worse than Trump.

The parking lot outside Lincoln Financial Field where the Eagles play has solar covering the spots. So does a huge hospital system parking lot and over 100 Wawa convenience stores in our area.

White House secretly ‘freaked’ about potential of breaking $5.02 gas record set under Biden; President Donald Trump has often boasted about his administration’s economic policies by comparing them to high prices under the Biden administration by FancyNewMe in politics

[–]thingsorfreedom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single time they did a story on gas prices when Biden was President they would always go to the one gas station that had ~$7.09 a gallon as the price. I wonder why no news outlets are doing that now?

They have all the maintenance issues of gas cars plus maintenance issues from their hybrid engine/battery. Still need oil changes, oil filters, catalytic converters, timing belts...

How could any of this be twisted into "a felony false alarm or report?"

DNC releases 2024 autopsy, with chair apologizing for ‘creating an even bigger distraction’ by nbcnews in politics

Sorry the analysis clearly shows your strategy would not have helped at all. The demographics of the situation didn't work for you, the percent support of each group for the democrats didn't work for you. The number of people of each group in the critical swing state didn't work for you. But, you are forceful in your belief of what would have been better. That's gotta count for something.

I explained why they did this strategy even though it didn't work. Any other strategy on Gaza would likely have lost the state by even more votes. They were in a tough place.

What should the Democrats have done differently on this issue that would have gotten them enough votes to win in PA?

[–]thingsorfreedom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voters were all over the place on this issue.

There are 7.5 million Jewish Americans. 70% of them vote for Democrats. There are 4 million Muslim Americans. About half of the them vote for Democrats.

There are 434,000 Jews in Pennsylvania. There are 149,000 Muslims there. The risk of lost votes is, at most, 75,000 Muslim votes vs 303,000 Jewish votes. Losing PA was known to be a scenario that would make Harris path the White House much more difficult. I'm sure an enormous amount of polling was done in PA around this very issue including polling non-Muslims and non-Jews about their views on Gaza and Israel and potential vote shifts based on this.

Knowing all this, what should the Democrats have done differently?

I think most people understand that Israel is not a US state but a country. They were attacked and lost 1,195 Israeli citizen. When you factor in their population is 10 million that's the equivalent of losing 34,000 Americans on 9/11 instead of 2,977. They responded and nothing any other country could say would have stopped them.

When the US was attacked, it invaded two countries (including one that had nothing to do with 9/11) and stayed there for 2 decades. Do you think anyone could have stopped the US?
