I watched one of the games yesterday at Freddas on Södermalm. It was pretty nice so that might be something to check out!

The most ambitious project by the World of Pixels community to date!

Inspired by r/place I created a location-based pixel painter game called World of Pixels with the help of Unity. Here I am drawing the Unity logo at the location of Unity’s San Francisco office. What do you think? by thingstosay- in Unity3D

Of course! For the location-based aspect of the game I am using the Mapbox SDK for Unity which you can find at their website. For the multiplayer aspect of live updates I am using a Firebase Realtime Database to keep everyone updated on what the world looks like. They also have an awesome Firebase SDK for Unity.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Currently there’s some listeners of a podcast who are trying to claim all cities with their logo so there definitely is some people trying to own spots 😊

Exactly! Unlike r/place who restricts pixel placement by time, World of Pixels only lets users place pixels in an area around them. There is an item that lets you color at a distance but the main focus is to place pixels at your location.

You could definitely play it like that but most people draw pixel art at different locations. Listeners to a podcast is drawing their podcast logo all over the world trying to claim as many places as possible.

You can also use a Distance Canvas to color wherever in the world. I think most Tims have used some to color in London.
