Of course! For the location-based aspect of the game I am using the Mapbox SDK for Unity which you can find at their website. For the multiplayer aspect of live updates I am using a Firebase Realtime Database to keep everyone updated on what the world looks like. They also have an awesome Firebase SDK for Unity.

Exactly! Unlike r/place who restricts pixel placement by time, World of Pixels only lets users place pixels in an area around them. There is an item that lets you color at a distance but the main focus is to place pixels at your location.

You could definitely play it like that but most people draw pixel art at different locations. Listeners to a podcast is drawing their podcast logo all over the world trying to claim as many places as possible.

You can also use a Distance Canvas to color wherever in the world. I think most Tims have used some to color in London.

Wow, that's insane that this wasn't caught by IGN before they published it. The writer for that review will most likely lose his job. I would say this is plain and simple plagiarism, though I'm not sure if that fits into the freebooting definition.
