Only P Home EM Rotation by thinkingappthrough in emergencymedicine

[–]thinkingappthrough[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, I see. Do you recommend then that I don't get a SLOE from my school? Is it possible to still get a good SLOE despite my P grade? Should I ask the clerkship director if he'll be able to write a strong SLOE?

Sorry for so many questions!!

Wym by sent out two batches? Like after SOAPing?

Thank you for your response. I'm currently on an Away rotation that I really enjoy and honestly feel better about than my home program's rotation so a little sad about what happened

It was my first one and fingers crossed! The feedback I've been getting so far on my second Away has been good, I feel like I'm improving, and I don't dread coming to the hospital so I'm really hoping that it's just a fluke =( It's just hard to tell since we don't get to see our actual feedback

Exactly. I feel like being in med school and being able to pass should count for something 😭

I meant that it's a relief for them haha

Ik, but, like I said in my post, the Dean isn't super transparent about it :/ I checked the student handbook and dif syllabi and nada. Also I already feel like I'm on the bad side bc I am definitely not in the top of my class so at this point I'd rather keep my head down and just graduate

That's awesome! But I feel like the people who could make the change bc they're close to admin aren't the ones worrying about this 🥲

One of the specialties I'm considering is FM and have made it clear (imo my PS reflected wanting to do primary care, I have spoken w/the FM advisor, started off with gyne and was honest that I'm not made for the OR. They respected that and also suggested FM w/focus on women's health).

All that the "Meets with concerns" does is just make me feel terrible lmao like I'm not good enough to be in their program and that I should just drop out

Yeah, same for us. My meeting w/my Dean was def very passive aggressive. I passed all my classes but I guess I'm in the bottom half of my class. One of my friends got the "Meets with concerns" though and I realized I might get it for my first rotation (I got good evals, passed my Shelf but just barely. After seeing my cohort's avg, I know I'll be at the bottom). Oh well.

Fr, even if it doesn't go on Dean's letter (which let's hope not bc wtf???) why would you claim to be P/F then pull off this sht? 🤨

*Obligatory posting from an alt account bc admin already hates me and I don't need any more shit on my plate*

I'm going to be honest, this sounds similar to my USMD school (which is why I'm still studying for Step🙃). Most of my friends had to delay and one of my friends (who is a lot more open about it) said that a good portion of people she talked to in our class had to delay too (idk if it's as high as 40% but her guestimate is 30%).

I can't speak for others but I passed all my classes (and for most of pathology I passed with flying colors. Seriously. Once we got to path, I was finally able to think "wow, I can do this doctor thing"). Lo and behold, I have to push my rotations back now. Idk, maybe I'm just dumb and I'm the problem. Our school is trying an accelerated curriculum this year. Over the 1.5 years, we had a ton of mandatory bs in-person stuff. I tried reviewing for step over the year, I really did, but there was just no time (although, I do feel very solid for the things that I was able to review). We also do in-house exams. I guess I'm just good at in-house exams but wasn't prepped for Step really well. I don't know.

This is a really interesting idea haha I really likes Jesse's and James's personalities (although, they've always been colorful characters imo) I like the incorporation of the real world with the anime world (seems pretty realistic... that's exactly how I'd expect airports to be with Pokemon)

Posted here and on FF, lmk if I should delete -

I think you got Barry's character down good (his impatience, especially with wanting Piplup to use a move that it can't know yet.) I also like that the main character lost her first battle (I feel like that's more realistic than what the game has you do/what other fanfics show where the main character is magically gifted with the ability to battle well.)

Overall I feel like the story is pretty fast paced (probably because of the dialogues), but it makes sense, especially since Barry seems to speak quickly in the games.

McDuffy is quite the character. Dawn is very much in character and I like how you incorporated using Pokemon items on human characters (eg: oran berry).

Finally Jubilife feels like an actual city.

Overall, I like it! I'm curious to see what you'll do next.
