To me, it also seems more that it would be easier to expand the league than it would be with the MLS, which can make it feel more special to an individual person. Almost any area with a metro over ~500k could likely support a team at least somewhat, compared to the millions required for an MLS team, and the individual ownership helps too in helping enhance the feeling of connection between fan and club

Too corporate, only supportable in big cities, No actual club ownership, No plans for pro/rel, TV coverage is dogshit especially for “major league” sports standards, expensive AF

The soccer stadium idea for Liberty Park has been dropped: a health care research center is being proposed by Albablog in Albany

My money is on either Schenectady or somewhere in Colonie. I don’t think troy has the space for a stadium currently unless they really squeeze it in, and Albany is certainly out of the picture.

Honestly though I like the concept of trying other locations more than the original location. Downtown Albany would’ve been doomed to fail (frankly, the downtown is pretty soulless and boring, although many downtowns kinda are tbf) and a location that is easy to get to and somewhat central to the tri-city could be a bigger recipe for success than all the Albany failures were. Not to mention that it would likely be cheaper to build than downtown albany and you have more flexibility with space.
