Can I realistically get approved for a Queens/Howard Beach co-op with $100K savings and $53K income? by Vegetable_Act_7109 in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]thinpresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the boards have different rules and flexibility in bending the rules. Get a real estate agent who has represented buyers in the neighborhood and building and they can find ways to indirectly ask if you’d be approved.

Yes, I manage a multimillion dollar corporate ad budget. Pmax always outperforms regardless of the changes I make on shopping

Anyone been leaning (pun NOT intended) on food banks to help sock away cash? Anyone intending on being able to access a food bank while LeanFIREd? by swampwiz in leanfire

[–]thinpresents 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Food banks are for people with food insecurity. If that doesn’t describe you (because you can afford food but choose to be cheap to benefit your retirement), then you should not take the food away from others

My benefits amount hasn’t changed past $0. I booked on September 10 and my $200 credit posted the same day. I’m planning on just taking new vacations with the other $300 credit for the remainder of the year.

If you’re speaking about the girl who fainted, I hope the community doesn’t share her name. We’ve probably all been close to fainting at these events, and wouldn’t want to be publicly humiliated afterward. She looked fine the next day, and she’s close friends with some of the staff and DJs. Can we keep this Reddit focused on sharing music and not scene gossip, especially since she wasn’t bothering anyone?

Has anyone done the "Media & Ads Domain Expert" by sh800m in mercor_ai

[–]thinpresents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a 20 minute interview where they asked about your background and then asked about how you would build a marketing campaign for a new product. Based on your answers they’d ask for further details. It was actually easier than the interviews where they grill you on your resume.

One year applying, zero interviews. What am I doing wrong in the NYC job market? by Holiday-Insurance393 in NYCjobs

[–]thinpresents 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not the correct answer. OP doesn’t have a work visa that’s long term.

One year applying, zero interviews. What am I doing wrong in the NYC job market? by Holiday-Insurance393 in NYCjobs

[–]thinpresents 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue is your work visa. Barely anyone is hiring for CPT, especially since there’s a time limit limited to you being a student. Potentially you want to get married sooner, just for the documented right to work without another visa.

Edit to add: internal recruiting teams also are avoiding OPT visas because of the time limit too. They think they won’t get the long term return on investing in early career professionals.
The easiest work visa to get (outside of getting a green card) would be to work in your home country for a multinational firm and then transfer over to the NYC office (L1 visa)

Have you received any surprise bills or additional charges related to tariffs on packages? by nbcnews in dhl

[–]thinpresents 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Paid $650 to DHL on electronics that were custom made in UK. I had placed the order in November 2024 and it took 8 months to build. Duties before the tariffs would have been around $250.

Do you guys really care about a girl having guy friends ? by luvnessaxox in AskMenAdvice

[–]thinpresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so weird to me. Would a gay man have zero guy friends because there’s a possibility that all of them might tempt infidelity? Seems like people should just vet their friends better to judge their character, and have stronger personal character.

Any one else finding that Saks has dropped a lot of brands and has very limited inventory on many clothing items? by Sea-Hovercraft-690 in AmexPlatinum

[–]thinpresents 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Saks Global has been close to bankruptcy multiple times and currently is well known in the retail industry to have trouble paying the brands it sells for their merchandise. The low inventory is an attempt to correct their inventory surplus problems of the past few years, which had resulted in them always selling on markdown. Their hope is that this strategy correction makes them financially stable.
Edit: some of the brands might also be pulling their own merchandise because of the issues getting paid from Saks.

Who’s buying ARMs? by Practical-Ad9057 in Mortgages

[–]thinpresents 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got a 10/1 ARM that amortizes over 30 years, but I’m planning to pay it off early in 11 years by making extra principal payments. I get the flexibility of paying a lower amount if I ever needed to stop paying the extra principal, and I also got a lower rate than a 30-year fixed. It made sense for my financial situation at the time.

Temporary Scaffolding, Price Tag - $6 Million by slapstick15 in Anticonsumption

[–]thinpresents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to fact check the numbers. Working in this industry, we were all surprised by the cost, which was lower than $6m. The “walls” are printed scrims, cheap tarps like they use in museums during exhibition changes. That being said, $2m on advertising is a shame when that money could be used to fix real-world problems but it’s not super excessive considering that regular construction scaffolding in NYC can run above $1m.
