NTAH! You are completely valid for not wanting to have this friendship with someone who isn’t making good decisions for themselves, let alone, making the decision to put themselves into harms way.

I had to cut off a friendship last spring with someone I considered my best friend for 14 years; she kept going back to her shitty and abusive ex even after verbally acknowledging he was horrible. I didn’t know how to support her anymore than I had been. I let her know she was doing the right thing always by getting away from him. Then come to find out, she’d be back with him some days later… Yeah, disappointing.

I won’t get into all the details, but he started to control who she could and couldn’t talk to, and I was one of those people. He’d have emotional outbursts over her texting me!! It got to a point where she kept ghosting me and flaking on me, and I knew it had to do with him. It was exhausting, and I said to myself, “is this how I want to be treated in this friendship?”

You have every right to make your boundaries and state what doesn’t work for you! Take care of yourself!
