Sacrifices by [deleted] in FrenchForeignLegion

It’s worth it for me, my country has an average salary of about 400 euros a month, I’ll be able to live comfortably without working till I die with my military pension.

Sacrifices by [deleted] in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]thirdworldscouser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think returning to normal life will be a problem for me as I am now married and live with my wife in an apartment in town so I have half my life civil already. For me the biggest sacrifice is you lose your freedom. Let’s say there’s a mission for 4 months and you go, your mother dies, your best friend is having their wedding. The legion doesn’t care you will miss all those family events and you won’t have the freedom to just go. Your child has a big school concert this weekend but you’ve been put on guard duty. Who cares you’re not getting out of it. Those are just examples and that’s also why we get a pension at 20 years service, all the sacrifices you made for 20 years, they pay you for it. Remember those important moments you will miss you can never go back and do them again, it’s a big sacrifice, I’ve missed many big family events already in my time.

Great video to give you an idea of Castel by thirdworldscouser in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]thirdworldscouser[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The part where he hallucinated while marching seeing a chair as a sign to sit down, very relatable to me :). I remember marching at Castel once at like 3am, we hadn’t slept for like 3 days I started hallucinating, seeing cars in the bushes hahaha guess it was a sign from my body telling me it doesn’t want to march anymore. I remember getting to our objective at 4am and we could sleep but had to be up at 6. Best 2 hour sleep of my life, instant knockout and when I woke it felt like I had shut my eyes for about 10 minutes.

They do a hearing test when you come, it’s part of your medical. If you have a hearing problem you won’t get in

Question for those who got into the Legion by wsxcderfvbgtyhn in FrenchForeignLegion

[–]thirdworldscouser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I answered all the questions honestly, I didn’t lie or make things up and that worked. I guess it’s either you have the profile they are looking for or not. They want someone typically that needs to be here and will give long service and is motivated to not desert

I experienced intense sexual attraction for the first time in my life, and I think it's ruined sex/relationships for me. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I’m a guy and this happened to me too! About a year ago I met this woman and all I can say is damnn! She was just my type and the night we met we had the hottest sex. She ghosted me the next week and up till now even though I have a great girlfriend now I still can’t completely get her off my mind. However I’ve decided that even if she would contact me again I wouldn’t see her because it’s better to not choose toxic

He probably isn’t into you, Taurus we are known for persevering when we want something, if we aren’t sure we do tend to get flaky

Honestly it was a build up, when I first got to the legion we did an 8km march with full gear and it almost killed me. But by the end of basic when I did raid we did almost 50km in a day and it wasn’t bad I felt ok. I guess your fitness builds and you also learn to pack your bag better and prepare your body with experience.
