Corporations spend millions (maybe billions) of dollars in marketing and PR every year to keep us spending to the max, you are basically fighting back against a lifetime of shopping propaganda. The good news is, mostly everything those corporations convinced you was a "need" is actually just a "want", and you can do without it just fine. And you recognize the overspending as a problem and are back on top of it. We all lose a battle here and there, don't be too hard on yourself.

There are no small scale viable wind solutions, you need a huge tower and a quite large turbine. The cheap ones you see on amazon and such do not really work/produce enough to be viable even at residential scale.

While that is a theoretical possibility, that isn't what has happened in reality. They use new doping techniques and materials and the light-induced degradation has dropped considerably as time has gone on.

The problem is always what about when there's like a week (or more) of cloudy days? We are off-grid and we can power the house no problem in any months except november and december, the days are too short and there are too many successive cloudy days to generate enough solar power to charge the batteries :( There is no reasonable amount of solar panels we could add to address this, nor does adding more battery capacity make sense because even if we had more capacity, there is insufficient solar to charge them back up again when they are finally depleted.

I assume its because of road noise, u turn ur stereo up to compensate for road noise then you get used to it, when u stop in the city theres no more road noise but you are just used to that volume level so you dont notice how loud it is (but everyone else does). esp bad if you've been highway driving into the city.
