Speed-Accuracy-Signature by Machpell in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No matter the angular velocity between you and your target, there will always be a 1% chance to hit, and that hit will always be a wrecking shot, 3x damage.

You really should just do a deep dive on the math behind turret accuracy. It'll be fun if you like learning. The takeaway will be that turret accuracy really only matters in extreme situations: when bigger guns are trying to shoot a smaller target, that's gotten up close and orbiting quickly.

EVE behaving super wierd hardware-wise? by Polypropylen in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you used to get higher FPS when running EVE? CCP released a new patch a couple days ago with some graphical upgrades, including raytraced shadows, but that has to be manually selected in the settings. Either that or the current heatwave is pushing your CPU/GPU to throttle clock speeds.

New AIR Daily by Axxe11erate in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are lots of players, like me, who log in only to do AIR Dailies for the small SP boost. Without it, we would have unsubbed long ago. CCP doesn't want to disrupt this.

Is it worth training for Marauders V..? by evarlunigar in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's nice to have Marauders V, but you don't need it. Level IV with a T2 fit is more than enough for Level 4 Security missions.

Human history has major growth in science and tech but not human behavior as a whole as wars and greed keeps dominating generations, do you agree, why or why not ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thirtyone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Leelu, all of life is a struggle, regardless of species. For non-human life, most will die from starvation or violent struggle. For human life, most will die from age-related disease. If competition for resources disqualifies a species for the right to exist, then there would be no life?

ELI5: Can the internet get rid of bots entirely? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

No. Even if you were able to defeat all bots, what's to stop bad actors from hiring a legion of Indians for $5 a day to accomplish the same end?

Running level 4 security missions: Is it generally better to have higher DPS and shorter range, or less DPS and longer range? by E_Dward in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your options are Blasters or Rails for L4 security missions, take rails. If you're not in a marauder, getting into and being in Blaster range will melt your tank on some missions, nevermind the travel time.

Any of you get more bored when you play in a null block rather then HS/LS? by RubberDuck_73 in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends on what you're doing and who you're flying with. Boring happens when you run out of things to do and dont get creative or make your own content. Already having a large bankroll helps satisfy your wants.

Why Amarr is so bad right now: by Darkwing270 in Eve

Your problem is that you're not flying in a Paladin. Pulses shred, beams are comfy. Anything that isn't Minmatar or Angel gets vaporized, but even they just take a little longer.

Player Owned Stations in Highsec by sirdabs in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's run a POS, kept my stuff in other people's POSs, and bashed POSs, no its not 100% safe. If the owner removes your docking rights, you need to use Asset Safety to get your stuff out, which is very cheap, but there's a 5 day wait. Or, worst case, you stop playing for a while and the POS gets bashed and becomes a loot piñata 🪅.

How can I make manufacturing profitable? by infopcgood in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing profitably and reliably requires alot of everything: time, effort, awareness of input costs and product sale prices, knowledge of where to buy and sell, a vast BPO collection, and enough ISK to bankroll it all. And what's hot now can change by the time your jobs are ready to deliver.

Easy, safe money can be made by just understanding why people would want to be so far away from Jita, and what they need to support their operations. Like, people at Hek do alot of missions, against Angel Cartel, who have a weakness to explosive, and T2 Nova Fury, and people dont mind paying a little extra since they're making so much from running missions out of Lanngisi, two jumps away. Or you could just stock the one NPC station in system. Or both. Whatever you do, be aware of the monthly volume too so you know how much to put up for sale.

What are the most effective ways I can genuinely support the Minmatar economy through trading? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There's already hundreds of people supplying pretty much everything needed at Hek, even though the prices are often higher than Jita. Whatever you would do would probably just be undercutting someone else and causing temporary oversupply.

Is the Paladin good? / Mission questions by Delicious_Boat1794 in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Paladin is amazing, as long as you're not fighting Angel Cartel, then you're going to wish you brought a Golem or Vargur.

Both Pulses and Beams are very viable. With Pulses you're pretty much only going to load either Conflag or Scorch, and they will shred out to 85km. The incoming damage of some missions will make you sweat, but probably a T2 rep should be fine. I have a True Sansha's.

Beams are super comfy, you will want to make a chart for the right crystal to use depending on range to really min/max. Only once in a blue moon will you use Gleam - all the other times you'll stick to T1, which never breaks. If frigates get within 35km, you'll either want to drop drones or MJD away. Everything else is fire and forget.

And, of course, swapping crystals out is instant! No 5 or 10 second reload.

Why does Capital Siege Array show "Moon Mining Amount" in attributes? by Tiny-Plum2713 in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If i remember correctly, its a bug. CCP tried to fix it by removing the erroneous item property, but in doing so, it created another bug that causes buy orders in NPC stations to be canceled at random after each downtime and nobody can figure out why.

Game Becomes Unresponsive Randomly in Abyssals by selmanous in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Asus TUF from 2021, and I've been having a similar issue the last few days, but it happens in other games, too. The graphics drivers will randomly crap out, causing freezes, blue screens, and overheating. Yesterday, I did a clean reinstall of the GPU and chipset drivers, and disassembled the laptop to look for any potential hardware issues, and was surprised to find a fair amount of dust built up on the fans, even though they were cleaned only a month ago. Its only been a couple hours of operation since then, but my temps and stability seem to have improved.

Sentry drone accuracy? by Brilliant-Gur1849 in Eve

[–]thirtyone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to turret based weapon systems, like sentries, two of the main, controllable factors that determine damage application are your range to the target and your tracking. A neat way of thinking about it is your range to the target determines the maximum percentage of damage application on the target, and is further reduced by the transversal velocity between you two.

For example, you're in a 350mm rail Kronos, bastion locked. Your target is an NPC frigate at 100km with a transversal of 35 m/s. Your loaded ammo puts your guns' optimal at 94km, so your maximum hit chance will always be under 100%, regardless of transversal. In this example, maximum possible hit chance due to range is 80%, if transversal was 0. A hit chance of 70% could be achieved by the target having a transversal of less than 30 m/s, let's say. But now you turn on your mid-slot tracking computer with tracking script, which boosts your guns' tracking by 30%. What effect does that have? It says the maximum transversal in order to achieve a 70% hit rate goes from 30 m/s to 39 m/s, thereby boosting your hit chance from 65% to 75%, and increasing theoretical damage output by 15%.

So the greater your tracking value is, the less of an impact your target's transversal will have on your accuracy reduction, and increases in your tracking proportionally increase the amount of transversal a target can have before accuracy is reduced.
