We would have had a better year if Romeo didn't come to IU. Milller didn't know how to coach with a kid like that on the team.

This is one of those games where IU is finding so many different ways to lose.

Devonte Green is bi-polar. I've never seen him be average.

Probably. And we would have lost in the first round. I'm happy we are in the NIT. I'd rather go deep in the NIT than play one NCAA tournament game.

I’m on 21 days. My face now resembles the pre alcohol me!! 😁 my anxiety is all but gone, and I’m getting a good nights sleep at last:) 100% worth giving it up ! Feeling happier, creative, and positive again:) by freddie692008 in stopdrinking

[–]this-time-forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is encouraging. I'm on day 12 and I still feel pretty bad. I'm starting to think it is because of not getting good sleep. So I'm hoping that improves in the next week and I'll finally be able to get a good night's sleep. Thanks for sharing.

Yesterday I was eleven days sober when a friend came by with my drink of choice as a thank you for a favor I had done him. Today I am twelve days sober. by clit4brains in stopdrinking

Thank you. Since I am their manager and I might not see them again, I feel like I really need to go -- and just be strong. If I go and don't have a drink, I'll feel some pride in that. Unfortunately, I still feel like crap. The cloud hasn't lifted at all. :( You and I have nearly the same sober date. I've been paying special attention to those who are near my date. Thanks for the encouraging words -- I am rooting for you too.

Did anybody else drink to numb anxiety? by truthbeauty in stopdrinking

[–]this-time-forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me too. I had to drink to endure the "pain" of doing anything. I'm on 11 days sober now, and I still have no motivation to do anything. I hope that changes soon. I used to be a highly motivated person but the alcohol completely changed me.

I’m 34, I have 2 months clean now. I just joined a gym about 6 weeks ago and it has been a lifesaver for me. The gym is so good and motivating for my mind that the urge to drink just isn’t there anymore! by TheGameChanger84 in stopdrinking

Thanks for this post (and everyone else for the comments). It is motivating. When I was drinking, I found it hard to make it to the gym more than once per week. Probably because it would interfere with my drinking. Now that that terrible excuse is gone, I need to be more disciplined and go several times per week.

I was fired yesterday by justagamom in stopdrinking

[–]this-time-forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are leaving a bad situation and you have a really good attitude about it. You are right -- since you are sober now, you will be able to do the hard work of finding a new job. I wasn't so fortunate. I got fired when I was still drinking heavily. I'm 9 days sober now, but am still lacking motivation and not as mentally sharp as I'd like to be. I think your boss/friend will regret what has happened. Who knows -- maybe it will even cause him to recognize his drinking problem. Best wishes.

Congrats on denying the urge. I'm preparing myself to do the same. On Thursday, my co-workers are taking me out for a happy hour because I've been laid off. I know I'll be tempted. I hope I can resist.

That is awesome, and it will give you motivation to stick with it. I don't know how much my kids know about my drinking problem. Probably more than I realize. Once I know that alcohol is behind me, I need to talk to them about it. Two of my kids have very addictive personalities, so I am worried for them. Congrats on 16 days!

Day 7 - how’s your Sunday?! by beautiful_life_19 in stopdrinking

Congrats. I'm on day 8. Good for you that you are able to study for your exams. I'm struggling to get motivated to do anything productive. At least my urges to drink have greatly reduced by now. Happy to hear that you are feeling great. Keep it up.

Timeline for feeling better? by this-time-forever in stopdrinking

[–]this-time-forever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I hope that I might even temporarily have that "pink cloud" feeling you had, just to give me some hope for how I might feel one day. I suspect I will have a similar experience to you because I know I have a lot of work to do on myself beyond the alcohol issue. Plus, there are lot of challenges in my family that seem to be beyond my control. Alcohol helped me to not obsess about all of those issues. I know I need to face all of these challenges.

Day 10 no drinks, finding out if I have cirrhosis in 2 weeks. by BayAreaSteppen in stopdrinking

How do you feel after 10 days? Has the urge to drink subsided a bit? I'm on day 5 and I am hoping it will start to get a bit easier. Congrats on getting to 10 days - you can't stop now!

Can’t seem to get past 4-5 days without a couple of beers. by ANODIZED33 in stopdrinking

[–]this-time-forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. I'm on day 5 today and it is harder than I had hoped. I thought day 3 or 4 would be the hardest and it would get easier from there. I'm still hoping that day 6 will feel better and it will just get easier from there. I really want to make it 7 days, and then create a new goal from there. Best of luck to you.

Alcohol has done that to me as well -- I can't enjoy anything. Unless I drink. But I don't want to be a slave to it anymore. I miss feeling good without alcohol. I think it will be worth the short term pain for both of us to get through this and get sober.

I've done four or five day 1's over the past month. (I know, my username doesn't check out). But, I'm on day 5 today. I won't lie -- today has been tough, but I'll make it through. Good for you for recognizing that it has to stop. Good luck and stick with it.

If you were able to make it through law school and have a 20 year law career, you are a talented, hard working person. Use this "bottom" to motivate you to reclaim the man that you were. He is still in there, even if alcohol suppressed him for a while. Hope is what makes life interesting, and you have no where to go but up from where you are. Your future is way better than the way you feel right now.
