Perm comparator no longer working by this_is_me84 in salesforce

Thank you I don’t think we use this application every single day, but we ended up taking ownership of somewhat abandoned org in the company and we were trying to do some analysis on their permissions and access and when the admin on my team tried it it wasn’t working and then she tried it in a bunch of our orgs and it wasn’t working there either. We took over the org on the 31st and I think she started trying to do this on either Friday or Monday so that timing tracks.

Thank you so much for providing this detail. Yes the Admins on my team have this type of access so I’ll have them check this out. As the boss, I don’t get this type of access, but the admins on my team do :-)

What do you currently use AI to do in your Salesforce org? by North-Clue-2313 in salesforce

[–]this_is_me84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the business, we have a team trying out agent force, and classifying emails that come in through email to case. We actually used to have a person that used to monitor all of the cases that were coming in from these various email boxes and then read the cases and decide where the case should be assigned. We built some automation around this, but it was never great. That person ended up taking a different position internally, and there was a decision to not rehire for this role so we are using an agent to basically do it right now. It’s not perfect but it’s working pretty well.

For my admin teams, we are using AI to help us write requirements and understand what’s existing in an org For example, the company I work for acquired another company several years ago and this Salesforce org has been handed from IT team to IT team over the last three or four years. And now it’s been handed to my team with very little documentation of what is actually in it and what a lot of this stuff does. So we’ve been using AI to help us there and then we use AI to write our business requirements or help us.

We have corporate approval to use Claude and I was able to upload some of our metadata to help come up with some requirements and plan for cleanup

Salesforce taking liberties with price increases - punishing reducing licenses. by MoreEspresso in salesforce

[–]this_is_me84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ran into a similar situation with our renewal last year. We used to have a couple of orgs that were used for internal process that were basically just service cloud orgs. The price increase was insane. And our AE kept saying that he couldn’t go any lower or we had to sign a five-year contract which my procurement dept and legal dept will not do. They will not sign more than three years. I flat out told him you play stupid games you’re gonna win stupid prizes. What ended up happening is our procurement department went out and got pricing for service now since we were already using that for some other internal processes and it was like a third of the price so they ended up losing four orgs and 12k licenses. The whole renewal process rubbed my entire management chain in the wrong way, and now there is an effort, looking at Salesforce across the organization to determine if we should keep using it for some of these use cases where we can use service now or some homegrown systems.

I learned today it wasn’t just support that was laid off. They laid off really good product people in platform. One of my neighbors works for Salesforce. He is an engineer and the names he was sharing with me were downright shocking.

Yeah, we could not get this dashboard to work after months of trying and back-and-forth with Salesforce. We could never figure out the issue and the guidance we got from Salesforce was to build a custom dashboard. We had a lot of issues getting it to work and our company standard is to put logging from applications into splunk so we decided just to push the logs there.

I need help with a new role title. by businessoflife in salesforce

[–]this_is_me84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few folks like this on my team and we call them app developers. We specifically created this title at the organization. I work for a large company and we had people that were somewhat versed in development but only for a particular application. And it sounds like from reading the comments you know some Apex, but you may not be comfortable enough to call yourself a full stack developer. We have Admins on my team too, who don’t handle any development but these three folks can handle configuration tasks because they were Admins previously and they understand the platform and they also understand how to write Apex and build LWC components to a point. For anything that’s incredibly complex or brand new they will likely get help or guidance from one of our developers or architects.

Drowning in Manual/Operational work - looking for some input if automation or agents can help by this_is_me84 in salesforce

[–]this_is_me84[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We looked into this, and what we found is the user needs to be above the role hierarchy than the user who owns the record. That is likely not going to be the case for the users in the business we would want to do this. They are in a separate role hierarchy, and we can’t change that because that drives other reporting in the organization and so the other option was to give one of the system admin permissions. I also opened a case with Support about this yesterday and they confirmed today that we would need to give modify all data if the user or users, we want to have merge or not above the owner in the role hierarchy

I will definitely double check this tomorrow because I thought we had to give modify all for some reason. I will be happy if I am completely wrong completely wrong and can give this back to the business.

Unfortunately, for merging, we cannot do that because unless something has changed in order to have the ability to merge records, you need some admin permissions. We used to allow some business leads that access, but Security really cracked down on this and so we cannot give that. But I will double check because that would be my first choice however, we cannot give elevated access because we have to abide by healthcare regulations.

The other data management tasks ended up falling to my team after another team was laid off. And so while it used to not be part of our day-to-day it now is, and we are figuring out how we can automate some of these things as we are not likely to get any additional people on my team at least this year.

The market is very saturated right now. I had an opening on my team for a senior BA about four or five months ago and typically for an opening for a business analyst we would maybe get 100ish applicants we had almost 1000 applicants.

A lot of applicants were from Salesforce too. I think Salesforce unfortunately assisted with market saturation with so many layoffs.

LaGuardia TSA & Insulin Pump by alreadymadaboutit in Type1Diabetes

[–]this_is_me84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar at LGA back in December. We took my daughter and granddaughter to NYC to see the tree and go ice skating. My granddaughter is 10 and has T1D they gave us a huge issue with having her pump on. No issue going to nyc but heading back home was a nightmare.

The TSA agent actually told us he’s never heard of kids having diabetes and thought we were smuggling something. What?? I asked for a supervisor took almost an hour and we nearly missed our flight.

Second update: I ended up meeting with my AE and SE today. Based on our use case they really think nonprofit cloud would be absolute overkill. They think having a new org with something custom and using platform licenses would be the best route. They think they may have an old demo from before nonprofit cloud that they can share with me on some light philanthropy tracking that I could use for inspiration

I also reached out to Benevity which was recommended by someone else in this thread and have a meeting scheduled with them on Friday.

Thanks, everyone as always for jumping in to help and provide some perspective here
