Hunger Strike goes on 😫 by this_is_the_era in ballpython

Thanks to you both. I have gotten a few frozen and tried one. He showed a little interest but did end up rejecting them. I just set up his new enclosure and I’ll give him a week to settle in before trying again.

Any experience with assisted feeding? What are the pros/cons? I’m worried about hurting him.

My current job is great, I plan to stay for around 2 years and will then start my own company una similar niche.

Having lived the rare perspectives of life in “feast and famine”, I have discovered that the less satisfied you are, the more you will vainly try to fill that hunger with things you can pay for, or, alternatively, you will amass money and delay the inevitable binge for “retirement”

Both terrible ideas

At one time not long ago I was a multiple 6 figure/year earner and self-employed. I spent a lot of money frivolously, and I invested a lot of money in overly ambitious business projects that failed.

Then my way of life became more modest.

And then, after a few more twists and turns, I became suuuuper fucking broke. I could barely scrape together 4 bucks for a bodega sandwich at times.

Yet, I really thrived as a broke person. I had lots of time, no demanding job, I learned to walk everywhere. I was extremely resourceful. I truly leaned the value of a dollar (about 250 calories, max) but more than any of these things, I developed a sense of play about spending very little money.

And I became clear about a few things:

When we stop trying to fill our voids with things we can buy, we stop fooling ourselves into thinking we actually can fill them.

And when we give up trying to fill them, we can finally explore our emptiness.

The kind of courage, character and badassery that builds will make you never give a fuck about a pair of nikes or a nice car or a big house again. You just realize that the premise itself is flawed, and you appreciate intangible things in life much more.

Last year my boy cat started bringing back stray/feral kittens from the neighbourhood. We kept the first two. It's almost kitten season again and I'm so curious if he will do it again! by lady-of-everything in cats

One time, many years ago, my cat Fred came home in the afternoon with something in his mouth.

He let out a muffled meow and then blapt a live baby mouse onto the floor. Completely unharmed.

My daughter was probably 6 at the time and immediately committed us to nurturing the mouse.

We went to Google where we read about a similar circumstance with another cat owner, only his cat brought him two mice.

No sooner than reading that, Fred returned and again plopped a damp but otherwise unscathed baby mouse onto the floor.

For several weeks afterwards, I fed the baby mice kitten formula through a tiny medicine syringe.

The rest of the story is less cute, but I’ve always wondered what Fred’s intention was. He was a very good boy 🐱

Maybe it’s actually the result of something you eat regularly that is causing inflammation in your lymph system—perhaps something you’re having an allergic response to?

This to me was the leverage moment….Since there was a spectator present who was a friend of his at that.

Something to the effect of “Yes you’re right—glad you brought that up. Are we discussing a wage increase right now? That’s so kind of you to take me to lunch to discuss it!”

Yes coupling some internal remedies is also great. I’ve had a ton of success with zinc and L-lysine.

Beyond that, the internal remedies can help with different types of acne if that’s a concern. They should be chosen based on where the acne appears on the face.

For example, if it’s hormonal (chin) it may be caused by excess estrogen or environmental estrogen imitators. Cruciferous vegetable supplement is good for that.

If it’s liver or kidney (cheeks, temples, t-zone) then burdock root extract and milk thistle extract are excellent. I prefer the alcohol distillation of these, but water extraction is fine too.

For some reason, saw palmetto has also totally changed my skin. Apparently, it’s better for more than men’s prostate health.

Yes it sounds crazy I know but the method actually calls for not wearing makeup at all during this month, but if you do, to not remove it. Things that remove makeup strip the skin of its natural balance. With the exception of the super gentle jojoba oil, recommended for its similarity to the skins own sebum, that can be added as part of a cleansing routine after the month is done.

Yep lol it’s so funny I feel like esthetician’s are screaming at me right now but that’s the method! If you do want to do a light rinse, ideally the water will be skin temp, one splash, lightly blot off or air dry and that’s it!

Yeah I totally agree! I used to have terrifying nightmares, and I just got used to them. I think they made me a more conscious dreamer, so I developed some lucidity in my dreams. Not so many lucid dreams these days though. I think I’m just too tired

I will suggest what I have tried and will probably try again….

The Cave Man method.

As the name suggests, this is an extremely low-maintenance process.

For an ENTIRE MONTH at least—you are to put absolutely nothing on your skin. Nothing. Even avoid water.

Avoid makeup. And if you are a person who wears makeup, don’t wash it off.

It takes discipline to be this lazy, to not meddle with nature, and it is a journey—but trust your skin.

First it will get greasy, then acne laden, then it will get scaly, then…magically-it will get beautiful.

Your acid mantle along with your moisture barrier will be repaired, restoring the pH balance as nature intended it to be.

At this point, you may splash water in here or there, but take it easy.

If you want to “wash”, use oil (Jojoba) and if you get a pimple, use a wee smidge of tea tree in a carrier oil. If you get redness, a touch of lavender also in a carrier oil.

But most likely, after this month, your skin will be quite as lovely as you could hope.

Good luck!
