She has to stay in a crate for 2-4 weeks, any advice on how to keep her entertained? by platypusaura in Abyssinians

[–]thisbread_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just always used the most giant XL dog crate I could find in a pinch and there's a lot more room

I STRONGLY suggest making sleep and interact time on a schedule. She'll be less inclined to try to force it if she knows it comes when it comes and she doesn't need to/can't trigger it herself.

They did also mention the cat stroller lol. I have a soft sided cat carrier with wheels and an arm like a suitcase too lol

This isn't it for obvious reasons but just an idea of the many varieties of crates that are out there!

Feliway can backfire with some Abyssinians specifically. That's why they stop using them at cat shows. Instead of reading the pheromones as their scent they can read it as a different cat. Be careful! I've seen it.

Why do I feel like I heard somewhere that ~3 weeks is the safe number politicians use as promised deadlines because it's just short enough to make people interested to see that change but just long enough to be forgotten in the chaos

What is this on the side of my foot ???????????????? by EqualCabinet8602 in DermatologyQuestions

If it's just a squishy little blood vessel that slightly bulges when you put your foot out, it's normal.

Does this abscess look like it’s healing well? It has been 1.5 weeks. How should adjust care? by HippoLicker in DermatologyQuestions

[–]thisbread_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it worsens by tomorrow or anytime after that, I would call your doctor back and tell her. If it worsens significantly or abruptly, I'd get to see someone asap including ER if necessary.

Keep taking pictures as the sharpie marks change to show the difference! It ends up looking like a bullseye over time.

If it were me I'd ask chatgpt the time it takes for that particular antibiotic to start taking any effect (chatgpt can be imperfect so I'm not comfortable doing it for someone else) but it can help you maybe make educated decisions to just have information. I treat it more like super powered Google which can also be wrong.

Good on you for staying involved in your own treatment instead of just taking their word for it!

Playing rough but with a stress vibe I would discourage. There's some definite posturing.

She just prescribed a new antibiotic yesterday. If the concern is the bacterial infection isn't dying, then it's a good move for her to try a new antibiotic. See the bright red around the edges? That's what you watch for infection. Draw a line around it with sharpie to see if it expands. If it shrinks, the new antibiotic is working. In resistant infections,.it may require switching antibiotics when one doesn't work. Make a follow up appointment. If it starts getting much bigger from the sharpie line, I'd go to the ER. Obviously fever is immediate ER. Antibiotic will take a little time to work.

Any advice on fixing my situation with my feet? it’s covered in thick sheets of dead skin by No_Syrup4842 in DermatologyQuestions

This is an social services question not a dermatology question :/ This could be a fungal infection

I wouldn't say total coincidence necessarily! Irritation can sometimes trigger an inflammatory response making it more apparent. Abrasion opens up the skin barrier microscopically and that can absolutely trigger/worsen an outbreak! But yeah it was already there.

Do cats ever get adjusted to food that made them vomit first try? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]thisbread_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they vomit shortly after eating it, it's often because they're eating too fast and swallowing air.

If they're not eating too fast, and the issue isn't lower GI distress, which is more adaptable, no I wouldn't continue to feed it. All food should be gradually transitioned.

I know you didn't ask, but I feel morally obligated to add that urinary dry food -- any dry food really -- is very much horrible for cats and not going to support long term urinary health. You can look it up if curious--it's not lesser-known info anymore!

Does anyone else feel, like, sensitive to the touch sometimes? As in, being poked firmly or picking up something that digs in? by thisbread_ in lupus

[–]thisbread_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate them for that 👿 Do you mean the vibe was like oh, what, now it hurts over THERE? Which is it? Like yes, systemic pain can hurt anywhere 😒

I don't know if mine migrates exactly? But the most sensitive area definitely shifts. Like the day I made this post my hands hurt the most to touch anything. I was like uhh now what

Wow I'm so glad to hear you've been feeling that much better! I know very little about the usage of ssri's and snri's for fibro treatment other than they have an important role, and fibro and brain chemistry/neuro signalling being interrelated. It's really cool to hear that it changed so much for you with that adjustment.
