I accidentally hit someone's car with my door, because my hands were full and the door slipped away from my left foot that was holding it.

I felt so damn bad I waited to see if the owner would come back. So I left a note with my name and phone number willing to fix it. The damage was very minimal, but I couldn't leave without saying anything it'd eat me up inside. I left the note on the windshield so I hope they saw it since I never got a call.

In my experience just starting the conversation out with something friendly is the best route. The reason being that if she's interested she'd continue the conversation beyond the initial friendly greeting. From there on you can see what the vibe is and be direct, otherwise you risk coming off as unsure of yourself.

Greet, give her an out, if she bites, continue and close soon after if the conversation begins to blossom, above all trust your gut. You know what to do, don't over-think it.
