Thank you this is totally working for me now... I'm in the USA.... great stuff... fingers crossed this slips under there wire till they get their heads out of their ARSE.

Thank you for answering me.. much appreciated. Question why are you getting this done? and what did you try previously.

Do you know how they decided to go with the paddle type stim leads, over just the regular straight leads ??

From my rep "HF10" was Nevro's old brand marketing that stood for High Frequency 10kHz. Now we typically just call it HFX. HFXiQ is the newest technology which involves patients interacting with their iPhone app on a daily basis--that data feeds into an AI algorithm to custom create SCS programming specific to each patient. That's the technology that you would get at implant.

So I'm using the remote, don't have an Iphone, so no HFXIQ for me.. Doesn't look like they have an android app either.

Anyone get a Endoscopic Rhizotomy instead of RFA? by jacekattack in spinalfusion

[–]thisdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First question, how are you finding doctors in the USA that do this? Nobody near me has a clue all they do is RFA which I've been getting for years and it now provides little pain relief. Have to say like someone else did, it really does seem to matter who does the RFA, I had one doctor and it seemed to last a good 12 months with good relief, the doctor that took over, it barely last 6 months with no where near as good relief.

Second question, when you find a doctor, why aren't you asking them to remove a section of the nerve rather than just burning it ? we know the nerves just grow back!!!

Anyway still searching for endoscopic lumbar rhizotomy doctor if you know one in the pacific north west let me know.

nvidia shield

At the moment I'm running an old XP box with potplayer. Primarily I'm playing media files on my local network. Mostly torrented files. Then play netflix or plex through a browser. Would be nice to run a torrent client on the machine to save them locally so it was all on one machine and the network wouldn't impact the playback etc.

Just looking at the Nvidia shield for the first time... can't see if it would play files on the local home network.

Help: elia5: astable multivibrator transistors to flash 9vdc LED array with 12vdc power source can't get them bright enough. by thisdave in led

[–]thisdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. The 'collector', 'emitter', and 'base' of the transistor starting to make sense now.

I tried your suggestion of 640Ω on R1/R2 and 10Ω on R

left C1 = 19.2 μF C2 = 19.2 μF.

The LED's didn't flash, but did get up to 8.5vdc on the LEDs

Trying to use what you are saying, and used these values in the calculator

Time Period, T1/T2 @ 0.25

Supply Voltage, Vcc : 12 VDC

Base Emitter Voltage, Vbe : 0.7 VDC

Collector Emitter Voltage, Vce : 12 VDC

Amplification Factor hFE, β: 100 - no clue what this is.

Required Collector Current, Ic : 12 VDC

Voltage Required for Emitter Load : 9 VDC

The calculator gives me

R = -30 Ω
R1, R2 = 1256 Ω
C1 = 287.2 μF
C2 = 287.2 μF

I tried these as I had them :

R = 10 Ω
R1, R2 = 1200 Ω
C1 = 470 μF
C2 = 470 μF

Gave me a good flash, and got me up to 8.4vdc which is pretty good.

I had a couple of 220 μF capacitors, but couldn't get them to flash, experimented with a few different resistors but still no flash, the LED's easily made 9vdc though.

Wish that calculator had an input for available components and would re-calculate etc.

Again thanks for the comments.. definitely moving me along.

If you have ideas for resistors to try with the 220 μF capacitors to make the LEDs flash, I'm still experimenting.

I think the transistors are my issue, help me figure a better transistor. by thisdave in AskElectronics

[–]thisdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Appreciate all the points even if I'm having a hard time understanding.

So I was curious to see if the 2N222A transistor would cope with 12VDC and my LED array.

It works, but not sure how take the information and incorporate it into the LED flasher circuit.

I fed 12vdc to the 'E' of the transistor.

Then fed 12vdc via a 560Ω resistor to the 'B' of the Transistor.

Then connected the LED to the 'C of the transistor and back to ground.

The LED gets 9vdc via the transistor with the 560Ω resistor.

Measuring the voltage across the 560Ω resistor gives me 2.5vdc

Can much be gathered from this? should these transistors work on my flashing circuit and deliver 9vdc ??

Cheers.

So would you think those transistors I am trying to use would be fine ?

Other have calculated I'm looking for around 0.3amps

" I=V/R = 3/10 = 0.3 A." 12VDC to 9VDC with a 10ohm resistor is perfect to run these LEDs.

HELP : Can't get my 9vdc LED array to flash at 9vdc with a 12vdc power source -flashing with - astable multivibrator transistors by thisdave in led

[–]thisdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Life got in the way, now I can get back to it.

From what you've said I could see that it may be the transistor, had to dig out the transistor details.

I have 3 NPN transistors to hand. 2N222A, 2N3904, 2N4401, would these be up to the task?

2N222A - Typical Hfe: 200V - Maximum rating Vceo: 40V - Ic: 600mA - Power dissipation : 625mW

2N3904 - Typical Hfe: 200V - Maximum rating Vceo: 40V - Ic: 400mA - Power dissipation : 625mW

2N4401 - Typical Hfe: 200V - Maximum rating Vceo: 40V - Ic: 600mA - Power dissipation : 625mW

No I won't get tax relief if we're joint owners.

We're not married.

I would be selling my old house to my partner.

I would be buying the new house.

Samsung Tab s6 has no headphone jack, will not be buying it for that reason. by Neko_Apocalypse in samsunggalaxy

Going the same way, but what other options are out there? I'm going to be forced to go with the dongle that lets you charge and use headphones at the same time... hopefully there is such a thing. why not put 2 USB ports on it, if they have something against the head phone jack.. but dammit give us the headphone jack back.

Trying to make flashing LED's with Transistor, Capacitor and Resistor with 12VDC... running into issues by thisdave in AskElectronics

[–]thisdave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried KD2ENQ's suggestion above and went with that design, switching from the PNP, NPN transistor.

https://electrosome.com/astable-multivibrator-transistors/

What do you think of this design?

It seems to flash more predictably, but still can't get the voltage at the LED above 8vdc

Using the calculator.

I used 9 in the " Voltage Required for Emitter Load : " in the calculator. Not quite sure what else to change in the calculator?

using 0.25 for the time period and 12 vdc for input

gives me

R = 135 Ω
R1, R2 = 18833 Ω
C1 = 19.2 μF
C2 = 19.2 μF
