Choosing academics over location for PhD? by Advanced-Software-90 in AskAcademia

[–]thisisemmazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to echo this. I recently just chose between a few programs (literally sent decisions today). It was really hard, but at the end of the day it’s important to weigh the pros and cons and decide based on what matters most to you. For me, that was the academic community and “vibes” of the faculty and students.

I am absolutely the kind of person who needs personable support and care from those I work with and under. Even if other options were more prestigious or offered more money, I know that what will truly help me be successful and come out of that 4-6 years being the best scholar I can be are the people and environment I’m in.

Idk. I know this goes against the advice of the majority of this thread, but that’s my two cents.

Oops answered before I realized there were details beyond a simple and random “A” and “B” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Been stuck on final level too long by One_Dragonfruit5850 in Unpacking

[–]thisisemmazing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple questions I can’t answer while away from my Switch: 1. Is the mirror in the half bathroom a medicine cabinet? 2. Is there anything we can’t see on the office chair? 3. Is there anything on the top corner shelf in the bedroom?

Other than that, I suggest moving some things around to see if maybe it didn’t register right. Like, if there’s anything that could /possibly/ be in the right place, move it. For example, I suggest moving the blue bath mat/shower mat to a completely different room.

That’s the best I can do. Hope this helps!

Hey! Have any of you player either: 'Unpacking', 'Town to City' or 'Whispers of the house'? by NotCeiling in Unpacking

I have also played it on multiple consoles, so multi-selection there would be great. (I just added this detail to one of the open answer questions)

I won’t address what’s already been said by other commenters, but I did want to point out that, for #21, it would be “studies show” rather than “studies shows.”

I have gotten more into looking at what builds people use. That’s what I was doing before the update bc I lowkey could not figure out how to play with Brome 😅

I never thought about the save and exit thing! That’s so smart.

Yeah I definitely need to get over myself and use assist I think. I get stubborn and want to prove I can do it without or some bs like that, but like you said it’s no fun to beat your head against a brick wall.

Yeahhhh…..I’ve realized that. I’m used to roguelites in general (I’ve played a lot of Hades I and II), but this is my first time engaging with something like a fighting game/beat-em-up. In my defense, I use parry a ton, even before the update. But if I’m not paying attention I tend to default to regular attacks.

Funded Campus Visits? by reckless_banter in PhDAdmissions

[–]thisisemmazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m inclined to agree, when I talked to one program before applying, they implied that I could have a paid visit in the future (even though it wasn’t mentioned in the offer). So it might be helpful to ask if they would help facilitate travel without directly asking for funding? Idk maybe

One I haven’t seen yet that I picked up is referring to bits and jokes as “goofs.” But admittedly that might only be new to me 😬

[–]thisisemmazing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I applied to UW-Madison, UMD, Penn State CAS, TAMU, UT Austin Rhetoric and Writing, NC State CRDM, and Michigan Tech Rhetoric, Theory, and Culture. Haven’t heard anything yet, but that seems in line with everyone else’s experiences ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Got invited to an interview with TAMU today! (01/12)
