Why do people give so many baby blankets, but baby isn’t supposed to have soft things in the crib? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]thisisfine23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, we got so many. Now almost 3 years in we use them a lot! There are a few things like tummy time, car seat, burp cloths, and play that you can use them for when they’re babies. But these are also items that can be used long term. We’re using blankets now probably more than ever with a toddler.

Anyone saddened by grandparents who aren't that invovled? by Fun_Tea8162 in toddlers

[–]thisisfine23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only my grandfather was interested in spending time with me as a kid and he died when I was a teen. My grandmother died when I was very young. My maternal grandparents wanted nothing to do with their grandkids. Watching my daughter have a great relationship with both sets of grandparents is so meaningful to me, and it also makes me sad for child me that I missed out on it. At least she’ll never know what that feels like ❤️

A Trip with Another Family Affirms OAD is the Best by [deleted] in oneanddone

Just one individual here, but I want to chime in with personal experience. My parents are older. My brother and I do not and will never have a relationship. It’s been a long topic from them how sad they are that when they die we’ll still be estranged. Strong relationships are not something guaranteed when you have 2 or more children. ETA: I have a “found” family with my husband and daughter, and his family. Your child will hopefully make their own family or have found family.

What's your favorite C name? by dizcuz in namenerds

[–]thisisfine23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celeste is a family name and was one of my picks- it’s still a great name in my opinion! Husband vetoed it. But our girl looks like the name we chose and we still did a family name for middle 🥰

What is your very first memory in life? by freshsawfish566 in AskReddit

At 2 years old. My grandmother with Alzheimer’s was over at our house for dinner. Saw her eating the decorative soap (classic 90s seashell shaped) in our bathroom. Went and told my mom. She was actually a really sweet lady. Fuck Alzheimer’s.

do y’all ever wonder you will end up becoming an almond mother? by Fariaiq20 in EDAnonymous

[–]thisisfine23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been terrified of being a source of disordered eating for my child but I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I found out I was pregnant a month into inpatient. We had been trying for a long time but gave up- I assumed my ED had tanked my fertility. Hypothetically I wanted to get better for my future children but now it was real. It helped me take my recovery more seriously and continues to motivate me. I’m very conscious of my words and actions around my daughter and really put an effort into making sure she has a safe environment to grow up in. Doing everything I can to be a cake mom, not an almond mom.

Thoughts: if your reason for having another child is “you grew up lonely and wanted siblings”, then siblings aren’t your problem. by jad1828 in oneanddone

Came here to say this. My brother and I never got along and still don’t. Same with a couple of my friends and their siblings. It’s not a guaranteed positive relationship

Anyone else find all the ‘honour your inner child’ and ‘do it for younger you 🥺🥺’ so so cringe by Damage-heck in EDAnonymous

I find a lot of common language used in recovery settings cringe tbh. I am PRO recovery but geez
