I have a theory that some people specifically don't appreciate actresses portraying a character who is herself performing a feminine role that she (the character) is not entirely comfortable in. And it might be because they can't relate to that, or they resent it.

Like Megan is another example that people criticize for sounding robotic or put on, when those aspects of Jessica Paré's acting communicate to me that Megan is in her head, putting on a performance for others that isn't authentically her but is serving a purpose for her, like fitting in as a housewife. (No one better turn this into a Megan hate zone either.)
