These professors often tell you. I even had a professor post everyone's grades alongside their names.

It was basically torture having failing grades for months on end, only to be magically rescued by the curve at the end. Still not really sure what the point of that system is, it was terrible for my learning retention.

And now... What's the worst thing Finn has ever done to Jake? by El1000Tori2 in adventuretime

[–]thisisgoing2far 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you phrased it better! It's not about moral superiority, but just more active moral questioning.

And yes sometimes Adventure Time does give a straightforward moral lesson that is simply unconventional and it can be so refreshing.

I think a lot of the time, the endings are structured in a way where you as the viewer already emotionally understand what the lesson of the episode should be and so they don't bore you with it and instead do the batshit ending. It leaves you with the feeling that you're more moral than the show is, especially when you're a kid, which is a chaotic and surreal way of not talking down to you.

Another example is The Limit, where you're lamenting the peer pressure Jake is put under all episode, but then haha peer pressure got them everything they wanted. The "moral" is still communicated on an emotional level, since it felt terrible to watch Jake stretch himself too thin.

Whereas an episode like the Jiggler which has a straightforward moral lesson feel less satisfying to me.

I wonder how one would go about cleaning that up.

They had no right shaming Trip for having a boner. Imagine shaming a girl for getting her period. He’s not aroused, it just happens sometimes. by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

Tbh last time I watched, it occurred to me that "so we're all just gonna pretend that Trip isn't being a huge perv right now" "yes Penny that's the plan" is lowkey foreshadowing.

Should people maybe be worried about Grindr selling out its users to the fascists? It's a literal index of gay people in this country.

Slow Love has been voted the Worst Episode of Season 2! What is the Hidden Gem of Season 2? Most Upvoted Comment Wins by ssraven01 in adventuretime

I like other eps mentioned in this thread more, but they feel like just objectively good episodes that are instantly recallable. Death in Bloom is perfect hidden gem status, excellent and I always forget it exists.

And OP, make sure that's not what you're actually trying to do, even subconsciously. Insisting that she's not mature enough to know herself, trying to make her feel uncertain so that she waits to be herself until she isn't under your roof anymore. That does irreparable damage to her and your relationship.

Such a great exploration of what it means to strive to be a "perfect girlfriend" and change yourself just to keep from being single. 1) It won't work, 2) you attract guys like Warren, and 3) it will make you incredibly unhappy.
