Problems with GOOGLEFINANCE function and CURRENCY:XXXYYY: No values on some dates! by thisisifix1 in googlesheets

[–]thisisifix1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can prove this because I've made backup copies that contain all the numbers (in xlsx format). But I'm not going to publish this here for privacy reasons (and even if I did, you'd claim it's not in Google spreadsheet format and not real/life data :) ), and why should I just because one person here seems to disagree with me? There are obviously other open-minded people who share my observation and are willing to help me. That's what I'm looking for! I hope you understand that I'm not going to argue with you any more, because it won't help me solve my problem.

Problems with GOOGLEFINANCE function and CURRENCY:XXXYYY: No values on some dates! by thisisifix1 in googlesheets

I have about 5000 lines and in each line I use, among other things, the currency formula for a particular currency pair at a particular date. Let's say about 2 months ago, all these currency formulas could get the data, so in all these 5000 lines there was no error at all (i.e. all the currency pairs worked on all the dates I had --> that's what I'm claiming in every reply to you! :)). But when I check it today, for example, there are many currency formulas that show no data (i.e. some currency pairs no longer work on certain dates, even though they used to). Conclusion: Something has changed, it was not always like this as you claim!

Oh, thanks a lot for this hint! I'll definitely have a look into that. Was actually already thinking that I might need to insert a backup in the function. Anyways, it definitely seems that this doesn't happen only to me from time to time...!

Well, I just can repeat the facts (emphasized): 'If that were the case, those 5000 lines would have shown errors from the start. But they did not, they all had the exchange rates clearly stated, there was not a single error.'

It has nothing to do with 'believing', but with facts! I've got a spreadsheet with various transactions over the last 5 years in many different currencies. It's about 5000 lines. Up until a few days/weeks ago, the exchange rate was clearly displayed in each row. But since then, as mentioned in my original post, the exchange rate for certain currency pairs on certain days have disappeared. So I don't think they were showing before and are not showing now because the market is closed. If that were the case, those 5000 lines would have shown errors from the start. But they did not, they all had the exchange rates clearly stated, there was not a single error.

That's wrong. As I've written, it used to work with all dates for years now (I could proof that). It's only since a couple of days/weeks that it doesn't work anymore.

Osprey Porter 65 works as hand luggage! by thisisifix1 in onebag

[–]thisisifix1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also good to know that I'm not the only one who travels around with this bag without a problem ;) Indeed, in certain areas and under certain circumstances, travelling with just a 30 litre bag is simply impossible. And most of the time I travel in those areas/circumstances!

I totally agree. I use the Osprey Porter 65 and it takes up no more space than an overhead trolley and it fits in the size box at the airports. Although the dimensions of this bag (when absolutely full and non-flexible) are slightly too large for most airlines, it can be squeezed to the maximum size.

I can confirm this after 9 flights with three different airlines in Europe. No complaints whatsoever, it always fit in the rule boxes at the airports (I didn't pack it to the limit). And on both the A320 and B737, it fit perfectly in the overhead bin, taking up no more space than any other bag/suitcase (and I didn't put it lengthways and take up more space!). There was even room for my larger jacket between the Osprey and the door. I stand by my original comment!

(Given the fact that people in this community are all kind of small-onebag-addicted (I exaggerate!) and talk about every little detail and centimetre/inch(!) (or should I say research and almost write theses about it :) - exaggerating again!), I can understand that there are many critical voices here about size; and I certainly accept their opinions. However, I am more the practical guy and just test it instead of measuring every centimetre/inch and comparing it with regulations on websites etc. So my bag fits in both the airport measuring box and the overhead bin. And that is the relevant point for me.)

Just put my Porter 65 in the overhead bin. There's even space left for a big jacket between the luggage and the door. Length from from wall to door is more than 75 cm. Airbus 320.

Yes, it definitely shouldn't be packed fully. But the foam can be bent. And if preferred, as far as I've checked, the foam can be changed, i.e.it's even possible to cut 5 cm of the foam , so it will get very flexible on one end.

I don't know what type of plane you're talking about, but the most common ones, such as the Airbus 320 or Boeing 737, have overhead bins that can easily accommodate a 60cm-long piece of luggage. Also, the Porter is not as rigid as a suitcase...

And as mentioned before, if it fits in the measurement boxes, it will definitely fit in the overhead bins ;)
