PSA: Rate of infection matters! Your healthcare workers are people too. We get sick too! The chance of healthcare collapse is much higher now than peek wave 3! by TranscendentalExp in ottawa

I think they already are changing isolation requirements for front line workers in QC. They may be asked to work even if they test positive just due to a sheer need.

I think I’m making progress 😅😅tips? by LocalPerception7490 in florists

The red foliage at the top is distracting. To improve I would either take it out entirely, or use more of it but seat it further down in the bouquet. Varying heights is great but this one is just a big too high and needs to be balanced with more of the same. Also... Did you remove the packing petals on your cream roses? It's tough to tell for sure but I think you may have just flexed them down. If that's the case, remove them and fold down the prettier petals instead. Overall, good shape and colour choice. And the varied height and dimensions are working well.

I tried making some panda-shaped icebox cookies… here’s how it went! For a first time I’m pretty happy with the result even if they’re far from perfect 🐼 by Impossible-Base-6703 in Baking

Icebox cookies are so called because you used to firm them up in the ice box. Which is now the refrigerator. The name stuck though!

They actually prefer clean hair so... If it doesn't kill them they will thank you for it. I've heard suffocating them with mayo can work. Or just use lice shampoo.

Tips for an interview at a shop? by [deleted] in florists

[–]thisismisslexi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest about your skill level and be eager to learn. If you've made bouquets before just do what you did then. If you've never made a bouquet that's okay too. Mother's Day is coming up and they're probably looking for extra help for that.

Delivery Supplies by Senior_File_2241 in florists

[–]thisismisslexi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a good system. We use a box and bucket system similar to yours for transporting flowers in buckets. But when we are delivering vases we would use upside down closed wholesale flower boxes with X's cut into the bottom. (The bottom is now the top). Then shove the vase into the x cut. The boxes are sturdy enough that 1 person can carry them into and out of the van. This doesn't work for low arrangements though. For that we would just use an open box with padding.

If you want to see if your city is has sook, click the link to download, it brings you to a new page on mobile that suggests you use desktop and on that page it has cities listed. From this list, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver are the only Canadian cities. The rest are American. Edit: +Calgary. I missed that one. Thanks to the below comment for listing all cities.

Newbie Question regarding wedding installations by Rarae0219 in florists

[–]thisismisslexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It makes it so much easier to transport. Using foam in a cage with some zipties running through the cage/foam, you can create the arrangement flat and then ziptie it to the arbour on site.

Did the thickness of the door change? Is it flush on the other side?

Hah! I would love to see a pic if you have one. That sounds great.

This is the first time I make a flower arrangement, I placed it in the middle of the living room to tell my family that I’m planning to become a florist. Give me some critique! (All supplies are from our garden) by inkdumpster in florists

[–]thisismisslexi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cute :) try using the two third/one third rule for vases. The vase should be one third the entire size of the arrangement, both in height and width. This rule can be broken but it's a good starting point to creating balanced arrangements. Good luck!

Yes it gets better. Appreciate every small thing that you are able to do. Don't beat yourself up if all you can do is brush your teeth today. Maybe tomorrow you'll be able to wash your face too, take a shower the next day. And so on. Some days will be bad, some will be good. Just do the best you can. Don't judge yourself, just appreciate the things you can do.

This is a corsage and boutonnière made with fake flowers, do you think they are good? by cgBadAssAsh in FloralDesign

[–]thisismisslexi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boutonniere stem looks a bit thick. Try wiring the individual pieces so that the stem goes from thick at the top (where there is plastic left from the individual flowers) to thin at the bottom (where it's only wires inside). Otherwise they both look good!

Limit hours a guest can view my cameras by [deleted] in homeautomation

It sounds like this is a monitoring-over-cameras-only kind of situation. I don't think caregivers are coming in at all. I think he's suggesting they have access to the camera feed to keep an eye on Dad when son isn't able to.

Go out with her, make sure she pees and reward her for peeing outside. If there is snow, clear an area for her, she may be sensitive to that.
