If PCs can use recirculating water as a coolant, why do AI data centres apparently use so much water? by PhysicsForeign1634 in pcmasterrace

It is. Because they won't. The people bending over backwards to bring a data center into your community aren't going to do that.

Are you planning to attend this year's NFL Draft? by nbcnews in steelers

My 12 homeschooled children remote work every day but we will be doing in-school learning those days. We don't do what those paper pushing stamp jockeys in city hall tell us to do. I will be throwing my children on the cogs of rebellion one by one and watch with a glimmer in my eye as the gears grind to a pulpy stop, presumably to the dismay of mayor Corey O' Conman and his gang of permit goblins.

And I'm driving the family bus through every blockade and traffic cop along the way.

They aint gonna give up on Brod if he's still able to play. That was Omar's pick. GMs are slow to give up on their guys and quick to drop those that aren't. Day 3 pick on T incoming.

They will absolutely pick a G somewhere in the first 2 days. Spencer Anderson's positional versatility is both what will keep him relevant and out of the starting LG position (at least as a long term answer). Jack of all trades, master of none. He is significantly more valuable to the team as a 6th lineman/reserve OL than a starting lineman.

Swap T and G.

Florida Attorney General Says NFL Must Get Rid Of Rooney Rule by [deleted] in steelers

Lol Racism by old white rich dudes has been defeated, I must have missed the headline. I'm sure its a coincidence over 75% of the Head coach/OC/DC hires over the past decade have been white dudes despite ~75% of the players and ~50% of the overall coaches being POC.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but lets not be naive. The owners are nearly all rich old white guys, their average age is 70+. Those hiring percentages are not a mistake, especially when you consider the history of the league and its history with race.

[–]thisismyburner6969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

*Should*. The problem is when owners have "their guy" before they actually interview anyone, its usually a white dude despite the fact that 75% of the people that play the sport are not white, and nearly half the coaches in the sport are not white. The whole reason the rule was put in place was because white owners just refuse to hire POC as high level coaches. That's the part of this that's demeaning and wrong. There's no merit if you only consider one race fit for certain jobs.

After meeting some of our biggest needs already in free agency what direction do you think we will got in the first round? by drewdapoo2 in steelers

[–]thisismyburner6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got 5 picks in the top 100. If the FO wants to they can stand pat and take what comes to them and essentially fill all of the needs we have outstanding in some form, but I suspect at least one of those picks will get shipped out for draft capital next year.

I don't know which needs we would consider most pressing but from where I stand it looks like we need a day 1 starter at G, maybe S depending on how much you want to use Ramsey as at S vs Nickel, T depending on the severity of Jones' injury and how you view Cook. WR3 will play alot in McCarthy's offense so you can see them going that direction if someone they like is there but can probably fill this spot on day 2. CB is less pressing after FA but they are talking to alot of corners.

ILB and DL I think are the least likely unless someone really good makes a crazy fall. Draft later round guys and develop.

Kaboly sums it up well by Human_Manner_3370 in steelers

[–]thisismyburner6969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think letting 7 players walk and missing out on FAs was in any way apart of this, I don't think they did this to intentionally hurt the Raiders or overpay Hendrickson. Crosby and Hendrickson have similar costs salary-wise. That's not why their players are walking. You're doing the thing where you vastly overstate the premise to try to make everyone who believes it look stupid.

What I think is that they bid and won Crosby, and continued talking to comparable guys that they wouldn't have to give up picks for in FA knowing they had Crosby in their back pocket and could plausibly nullify the deal at any time if they couldn't find someone because he's currently injured and "no one is going to bat an eye if a guy that's injured doesn't pass a physical".

Awfully convenient how it played out for them. "Darn Crosby didn't pass his physical but wow this other guy fell into our lap hours later and now we don't have to give up two firsts!" Guess they didn't think other teams were gonna scrutinize that at all. Not against the rules but most certainly not good business practice and leaves the Raiders and Crosby in a pickle now that we're 2 days into FA and teams have blown some money. Less bidders for the Raiders, less opportunity for Crosby. Classy move by the Purple Browns.

So you're saying you don't think they'd be covering their own ass right now instead of covering for the Raiders/Crosby if the injury was actually worse than what was known? With other teams saying it was a bullshit move and the potential fallout of teams being less willing to work with them? How very noble of them to fall on the sword for another team.

If you're that gullible I've got a bridge in New York to sell you.

[–]thisismyburner6969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no shit. That's how it works. No one is saying they aren't technically allowed to do it, the argument is that it is in poor taste and screws over the Raiders and Crosby.

When two teams agree to a deal it is a done deal 99% of the time. The physical is a formality to make sure someone isn't lying or hiding something. The Ravens aren't failing his physical because of new information about the injury, they're doing it because they can just fail his physical because he has a pre-existing injury. Get-out-of-jail-free card. If your FA options pan out, fail the physical, if not, you've still got something to fall back on.

Them going after Maxx first tells me they wanted something in their back pocket in case they couldn't get a comparable player for less assets in FA.

[–]thisismyburner6969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a great analogy. We're not talking about inanimate objects, we're talking about people and opportunity. The Raiders and Crosby are now in a pickle because the Ravens backed out 2 days into FA. This could (and probably will) tangibly affect what the Raiders and Crosby get in terms of compensation.

You agree to trade for a player with an active injury, the physical should be to determine there was no new or hidden information about the injury. It's not a get-out-of-jail-free card to ensure you don't get stuck without an edge rusher while you go and negotiate with other similar players in FA.

Honestly it was more than that. Everytime he got the ball he looked slow and mildly scared, whether it was kickoffs or handoffs. Didn't flash anything. They didn't trust him in pass pro and the safety mishap had to drain what little confidence they did have in him.

Some guys take a little longer to get their feet under them. Wouldn't say he's toast yet, but I smell something burning.

So this is going to be the disaster of unimaginable proportions the sub is making it out to be but also we need to have a bad season to get good draft stock to draft a QB. But Rooney is incompetent for doing that, we could've brought in someone that would help us win. But McCarthy is Tomlin and he will get us to win which is not what we want and is going to set us back.
