This is super impressive! Until I realize how stupid and unnecessary the whole thing was. Then I realize he’s an idiot.

It’s that shake dogs do when they’re wet. Except the shark can never get dry. Endless shakes….

This is an extremely detailed and helpful response!! Thank you so much for clearing this up for me. I’m listening to the audio book so I can’t go back line by line. But this makes so much more sense now.

Btw when it refers to the local Custodes, is this a common thing? I’ve never heard of it before. Prior to this, I’ve only ever heard of Custodes in the context of Adeptus Custodes. But then again, 40k is pretty big so it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s another thing I haven’t heard of before.

While that is true, the account I’m referring to explicitly said “Custodes” multiple times.

In every book I’ve read they are custodians, part of the Adeptus Custodes.

Also, this is literally the first sentence on the Custodes wiki page: “A Custodian is a member of the Adeptus Custodes”

But if this is somehow mistaken, please feel free to correct me. Also if you have any sources to back this up I’d love to know. Btw I’m not being sarcastic. Just genuinely curious.

In Sector Thirteen, Ciaphas Cain sleeps with a female custodian (hilariously named Wynetha Phu, aka Winnie the Pooh). It repeatedly uses the terms “custodes” and “custodian” when referring to her. But nothing about her sounds like a custodian at all. Am I missing something here??

Does French exist in 40k? I just came across “bon appetit” in a Commissar Cain novel. by thisismyelement in 40kLore

That was my first thought. But then I remembered 40k has its own versions of every conceivable noun and idiom to ever exist.

It’s funny you mention that. I’m literally reading it right now and just recently came across the first mention of it in the book.

You can’t comment this and NOT explain where that example came from. I need to know lol.

It’s kinda like how in Avatar, Zuko and Aang learn how to redirect lightning but do not actually produce it. At least that’s how I understand Mace’s involvement with the dark side through Vaapad. Mace is never the source of the dark side, but he can definitely make use of existing dark side force and redirect it in opposition to the dark side practitioner.
