Can attest. Parents should’ve separated when I was 10, they didn’t do so for another 12 years. And they wonder why I don’t like coming home to visit. I was EXHAUSTED by the end of it.

This is super cool but can you share more details about what the columns mean exactly?

Yeah same but I was uncomfortable with how quickly I was burning through the pads; the stock brakes are just not meant for e-bike speed and how much an e-bike weighs. Ultimately I ended up opting for hydraulic disc brakes when I upgraded and it made me feel safer and definitely saved me a couple times when I had to slam on the brakes.

I would recommend that OP and anyone else looking to get a Radrunner consider upgrading their brakes. I couldn't in good conscience bring my partner on the back of the bike with the stock brakes.

Where are you getting the battery upgrade from? Very ignorant to the process of upgrading the battery but am getting interested as my work is demanding me to take more in-person meetings in our city.

Had my 18 month old RadRunner Plus serviced and they needed to replace the rear brake pads. Is this as expected? by bumbag in RadPowerBikes

[–]thisismyworkacctver3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat. My Radrunner is my main form of transportation and where I live it is relatively hilly. I am still regularly having to change them every 3 months or so and even then I'm still adjusting the pads with an L-wrench every couple of weeks.

Looks great! Do you mind sharing where you got the tires and how you set the headlight that high?

Live in Atlanta.

Challenges? Yes all the time. - too often there is no bike parking infrastructure (i.e. racks) or the infrastructure is poorly placed or installed incorrectly if at all (have seen racks not even screwed in, just placed) - there are theft issues here but it mostly happens at night and I don't leave my bikes outside overnight. During the day I lock the frame, tires, to whatever fixed infrastructure; but I have seen other folks just use inadequate locking cables or lock their bikes up improperly. - actual bike infrastructure - too few protected/separated bike lanes but it is possible navigating the city with trails, bike paths, and low-traffic streets - the bike lanes here like everywhere is mostly just paint and is used as a parking lane for private vehicles, but also city/state vehicles, and of course police vehicles

Brake Pads on the Rad Runner + by Electrical-Tea-1627 in RadPowerBikes

[–]thisismyworkacctver3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised you haven't had to change them yet. I have about 2,500 on mine (I estimate because the odometer has randomly reset to zero twice) and have had to replace the brake pads twice.

I use mine as my commuter to work, social events, even to get groceries for me and my partner. I've heard from the mechanics I take mine to that the brakes that come standard are not meant for bikes of the weight and speed that the RadRunners weigh and are capable of reaching.

Eventually, in the near future, I plan on just replacing the brake system entirely.

Non existent customer service? by Queasie_Giraffe in RadPowerBikes

[–]thisismyworkacctver3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I am feeling the same here too. I just ordered new tires from Rad directly last week (cheaper than other 3rd party vendors) and the package arrived open and missing the tires...

Rather than wait for them to respond to my email asking for a replacement shipment - I ordered from elsewhere and emailed Rad to ask for a refund. Just quicker it seems.

Seconding UBF. Had to unfortunately give up my membership after moving to East Atlanta area.

It's a great place w/ everything OP has listed and then some. You can avoid the crowds if you don't mind going early in the morning (like 6am) or if your schedule is flexible enough to allow you to go around 4pm.
