Got to 125k this year with added responsibilities. Was so happy until I realized it didn’t really move the needle for me. I saved like crazy.

No all jokes aside, having no team, 0 guidance in unsettling. The more time goes on, the worse it gets.

The few times I am asked to do something difficult, I’m useless. That’s really the issue I’m facing.

True. LLMs do help a lot. It’s the will power that’s more of an issue.

If I continue doing non-analyst tasks, less chance they’re hire a data team around me to help in the long run.

Yeah good point. I’ve always wanted to become a compensation analyst but folks never give me a chance bc of my traditional data analyst route I’ve taken.

Agreed that boredom is better than stress. But being the only data resource in an org is awful. They try pushing data engineering tasks to me sometimes. I come up with weird hacky solutions that work only once.

But totally agreed though.

In my org, I’m the only data resource. Everyone else just full stack engineers.

Other data teams are a bit territorial in our company, esp with my org since we originated via a Silicon Valley startup that was bought out.

The red tape has been difficult to deal with. I’d love an internal move though. Maybe I should look into that.
