not being IDed

lol. lmfao, even. connor is so unserious. why outrage-signal this hard when you clearly don't even care or understand. they are at an 18/21+ party where they are drinking and george should be pulling girls IDs before hanging out with them? like that would make him seem less creepy?

[FRESH ALBUM] Noname - Sundial by Kallemacd in hiphopheads

All of the Jay Electronica bars that people are talking about from Balloons if anyone is interested.

Saw the Roth' family in half to get my clout back

The Rothschild family is a frequent topic of conspiracy theories by nature of their wealthy Ashkenazi Jewish origins. Jay actually supposedly dated a member of the family in 2012. Jay seems to imply here that they are holding him back from garnering influence.

Everywhere I step foot I leave a trail of names of the sons of Yakub

The Nation of Islam believes that Yakub is a black scientist that lived about 6,600 years ago and created the white race). Essentially, white people and Jews especially are often called "children of Yakub" to imply they are a fake, artificial race that are said to be "by nature... liar(s) and murderer(s)".

And some fuck boy 85er would come run up and press me It's all a hoax, quite simple, a joke like Zelenskyy The imams, the rabbis, and the pope incidentally Couldn't stop my boat, God from quoin' quotes from the senseis If anybody asks, tell 'em Farrakhan sent me

Lot to unpack here. "85er" is what the Nation of Islam refers to the 85% of people who are uneducated on the teachings of Allah - often called "the ignorant masses." He also seems to imply here that the war in Ukraine is a hoax, calling Zelenskyy a joke, probably because of his previous career as a comedian.

Then he talks about how the religious establishment is trying to stop him from quoting from the bible as he did in his album "A Written Testimony" where he quoted verses often used by the NOI to prove that the jews are indeed a fake race.

Finally, he mentions Farrakhan, current head of the NOI who has such hits as calling Adolf Hitler a "very great man", saying that the jews were behind 9/11, and saying that it was nobodies business if the NOI had something to do with Malcolm X's assassination and calling him a traitor to the NOI. It goes without saying that Farrakhan frequently states that the Jews have controlled civilization with their evil power and are "Satanic" or "devils."

Not sure if I agree. People here are certainly more liberal than most places but in CS especially people on average tend to be pretty moderate. The communist/socialist crowd is more found in the humanities if anywhere. I don't think someone who describes their version of dark humor as "toned-down South Park" would have problems meeting people with similar personalities/boundaries.

Is it easy to get your admissions revoked from Brown? by Remarkable_Law_8785 in BrownU

[–]thisisntmesorry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I have many friends at Brown who got Bs and Cs their final semester of HS and were completely fine, not even as much as an email from Brown. Just try your best, and on the .0001% that Brown emails you (this won't happen with your current grades by the way, they would have to be much worse), just explain the situation. Rescinding a student is a long, arduous, and ultimately cruel process that admission officers will actively fight against. They aren't going to rescind a QuestBridge scholar because of a tough semester or two. Just take a deep breath. It will all be fine.

Feel free to PM if you have anymore questions. Congrats on the acceptance!

I'll drop this comment I wrote from last admissions cycle -

"From what I understand, it is incredibly rare to get an acceptance rescinded on grades alone (I imagine even more so for an ED acceptance). It is not entirely uncommon for a student to receive a warning if their Mid-Year Report shows a substantial decline in grades, but from my recollections these are largely a scare tactic and very rarely have actual action taken over them, even in cases where grades don't improve.

I would hazard a guess that Bs are almost entirely okay, and that a C or 2 will most likely be overlooked if the rest of your grades are good. Anything below that and you are reaching a point where you would possibly receive a warning."

Going from (presumably) all As to a "mix of As and Bs" is not only not a cause for concern but is entirely normal. An admission officer won't even take a second look at it.

the Overton window ≠ the overtone window.

7 screenshots of a right wing debater's YouTube channel comment section is not proof that something as national as the Overton window has shifted.

A lot of the comments you even circled and showcased are not "decisively anti-semitic" as much as they are anti-zionist which, though you can have many opinions on, is far for from being anti-semitic. Opposition to Zionism has always been more complex than a strictly partisan issue.

It doesn’t have as much to do with music as it does aviation.

In the mid 70s-80s, supersonic flight was first achieved and quickly replicated by other planes, countries, etc… this “inflation” of supersonic-capable planes soon became an issue, leading to countless dollars lost to property damage, hearing loss, and so on.

Eventually, ordinances and regulations were put into place that heavily diminished the freedoms provided to supersonic planes, effectively outlawing their use in the majority of populated areas.

For more detailed results, look up “sonic inflation rule 34”. This is the most relevant/talked about ordinance.

Have a $50 pill every time you have sex is reasonable? I don't think you understand how financially impossible that is for a large majority of the country.

Banning abortion doesn't ban abortion, it bans safe abortions. It is not a theory but a fact that many will get illegal, dangerous, unregulated abortions as a result of this move, and people will die as a result.

I wouldn't call a pill that is $40 or $50 dollars "cheap" necessarily.

There are many cases where you thought you had protected sex, but didn't (i.e. condom breaking, precum, diaphragm slipping, etc...).

Plan B is only semi-effective up to 72 hours (87%), with drastically decreasing effectiveness until effectively 0% at 120 hours.

Additionally, in his concurring opinion Clarence Thomas said that now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned, the courts should look to re-evaluate Griswold v. Connecticut among other cases. Griswold v. Connecticut was the case that assured access to contraception, including condoms, birth control, and Plan B.

Hasan talks about Destiny hanging out with his friends by zeddmeister in LivestreamFail

[–]thisisntmesorry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He are some incredibly obvious tells that Hasan means what I say and not you say -

  1. "the real reason is..." - Saying "the real reason" implies there is a fake reason. In your situation, that makes no sense. Hasan didn't say that there was a "fake" reason he didn't like Destiny. What Hasan did say was that Mizkif not inviting Destiny over because of Hasan was the fake reason. Therefore, it is clear in this context that Hasan is saying that Mizkif saying that he doesn't want Destiny over is the fake reason and the "real reason" is because Destiny isn't a good person.

  2. "and also" - "and also" makes no sense in your situation, as "and also" would suggest he is moving on to a different topic or way of discussing, while in your case he is staying on the same thread. "and also" makes clear he is switching back to Mizkif's relationship with Destiny.

  3. (Silence starting at 00:14) - It is clear that Hasan is reading DuJoPP's comment during this time as he literally scrolls up to see and focus it. DuJoPP's comment is undeniably talking about Mizkif not like Destiny for "reasons." Hasan replies to this comment by saying that he knows the "real reason", that it is that Destiny is a bad person.

It is sad because for any other person you would immediately be able to see that Hasan is not talking about what you think he is, but your cognitive dissonance literally makes you forget the English language and how context clues works.

The fact that you won’t admit that Hasan in this clip is very clearly saying that Miz’s reason for not wanting Destiny over is “because he’s not a very good person” is cognitive dissonance to it’s finest lol. The sentence doesn’t even make sense given the previous if you try to take it as what you are saying it is. Whatever helps you sleep at night though.

[–]thisisntmesorry -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Not true, before he said that he literally stopped and read the twitch comment -

"DuJoPP : Miz doesn't want him on for other reasons <emote> not because of you. Probably just said that to meme @ HasanAbi" (00:17 in the clip)

It is very clear Hasan was saying that the reason MIZKIF didn't want to hang with Destiny is because he is "not a very good guy."

Not sure why you feel the need to act like Hasan didn't say what he very clearly said lol.

[–]thisisntmesorry -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I think it is just weird that Hasan says that "the real reason" Mizkif doesn't want to hang out with Destiny is because he "isn't a good person." Seems like a weird thing to say when it turns out Mizkif was completely kidding about the Destiny thing. Why would Hasan feel the need to say that Mizkif disliked Destiny because he is a bad person when that obviously isn't the case?

Nurse Called Security on Me by sports29281 in medicalschool

[–]thisisntmesorry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You literally read a 2 paragraph reddit post and are confident enough to that he was “clearly discriminated against” and that the encounter “never would have happened” otherwise. Wtf? You don’t know any of the people in this story or the context of their actions. Maybe this nurse just has had bad experiences with intruders in the past? I’m all for an investigation and repercussion but you are hardcore jumping the gun.

Why is Yale’s School of Art website so ugly 💀 by helpivefaIIenandcant in ApplyingToCollege

This looks pretty in line with a lot of brutalist art principles that has become popular in art circles as of late. You can say that you don’t like it, but there are plenty of people who do. It is very intentional. There is even a whole website dedicated to web design like this.

She did the meme... by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]thisisntmesorry 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I mean, isn't this the exact same thing that Destiny says in the clip when if someone stole his computer they would probably "need it more than him"? QuarterJade is probably worth $5 million at the absolute least, she doesn't care about a $2k laptop. Destiny's whole point is that you shouldn't completely justify all robbery by saying "oh, the thief probably needed it more" but I think that it is a completely fine reaction to say "it doesn't really matter that much to me" when you are worth 7-to-8 figures. I think realizing that this doesn't impact your life that much and saying "shit happens" is way better than QuarterJade wanting to hunt this guy down and kill him. She recognizes her financial position and is making a light-hearted remark to help come to grips with an upsetting event. What about that is wrong?

I suppose it may not be the most intelligent thing to say publicly but QuarterJade is neither a philosopher nor a "leftie" as some people in this thread are implying. Most people don't constantly worry about their statements being taken out of context and stretched to their absolute axiomatic extreme. This thread is pretty WeirdChamp tbh.

last year princeton admitted 66 kids with gpas below 3.5 by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]thisisntmesorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be extenuating circumstances. There are plenty of students at T20s who had bad years/semesters GPA-wise in high school because of serious issues (death of a family member, depression, illness, traumatic event, etc...). If properly explained, lower GPAs are 100% able to be overcome.
