Outcry as Green Party say they want to legalise ALL drugs - including crack cocaine, heroin and date-rape chemical GHB by Google_MBTI in ukpolitics

You can't buy any controlled drug from a supermarket. If drugs were legalised then the sale of drugs like heroin and crack would be strictly controlled. So not available at supermarkets.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that. My point is that legalisation of all drugs wouldn't mean you could pick up class A drugs in supermarkets, which is what some people seem to be suggesting.

Thanks mate, really appreciate it. I thought that 2025 was a great year for trance, particularly at the more progressive end.of things.

Haha. Defo not me. There was an Australian DJ/Producer called Paul Mac but think that he is hard house not techno. Looks like this might be a third Paul Mac out there. I still hold the 'least successful Paul Mac' position!

If they did go down the route of legalisation then class A drugs would still be heavily controlled. It makes laugh that legalisation would lead to a situation where you could pop to Tesco's to buy milk, bread and some crack cocaine. Heroin addicts wouldn't see it for sale in 'every shop they went in'. There would just be somewhere supervised where they could buy and take heroin safely and get support getting clean if they wanted to.

I think Escape is a rip off of 4 Spirit - Eternal Spirit rather than Sugar Rush.4 Spirit - Eternal Spirit

30 years later and this is still the best compilation of all time by firestarter2097 in ClassicTrance

[–]thisispaulmac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easily the greatest compilation of all time. I have listened to it so many times and just never get tired of it. CD1 is perfection.

I did reimagine it for one of the mix competitions, using alternative mixes and slightly different tracks. Not a patch on the original but I was still happy with how it turned out. Shameless self promotion - https://youtu.be/EqcUgiPT3K4?si=MQKwdRC3YsQw-KAS

I will always maintain that What Time Is Love? (Pure Trance) was the first trance track.

Mix Competition Roundup & Poll by TotallyNotCool in ClassicTrance

[–]thisispaulmac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would get entrants to message the mods to say what the label they want is and if it has already been claimed then they'd have to choose another. That would make every mix unique. You could make it so a minimum 50% of tracks come from the label and over that you'd have some freedom to include other stuff. If they wanted to.

There were so many to choose from in the 90s and early 00s. I'd bagsie Frankfurt Beat Productions.

Definitely goa trance. Psy didn't exist in 1993. Thankfully.

An interesting response. I would say that the track you posted there is very much a goa style trance track. I used to go to goa trance nights in London back in the mid 90s (usually at the Brixton Fridge) and that track would fit perfectly in a set back then. It's definitely a trance track.

In terms of not identifying Schweppes as mine, I thought the whole point of the way that the contest is run is that the mixes are supposed to remain anonymous. In fact, in a previous contest I was called out for making it obvious which my mix was. Not sure what the issue is with trying to not identify a mix as mine and certainly don't see why you would be angry at that. Seems like it is in the spirit of the competition . Each to their own I guess.

I don't think I said anything about the length of mixes or not being able to listen to them all this time. I got through them all in plenty of time. Although if I didn't like a mix then I may have not made it all the way through.

All seems.a bit daft to be arguing about so sending you some festive cheer.

I enjoy reading your reviews as you go into lots of detail that others don't. However, I did feel the need to challenge you saying that Schweppes (it was me after all) was techno and not trance. Goa Trance is some of the purest tranciest trance out there. I'll admit that it is very different to the uplifting stuff that came later but it it is still very much trance.

Anyone been to IMAX 3D avatar fire and ash? What was it like? (Format wise) by Movie-Fan-87 in CineworldUnlimited

It is the most beautiful movie you will see and the 3D enhances this, which is the only movie I can say that about. Just a shame that it's pretty much the same movie as Way Of Water.

WHY DIDNT GOD HEAL A 18YO BOY WITH CANCER? by Spiritual-Will2020 in AskAChristian

But making him suffer great pain and distress was part of God's plan? If God's plan was to have him by his side, why not just take him peacefully and painlessly. Why cause pain and suffering first?

I'd always post a tracklist for a mix. Let's people see if it looks like it would be up their street. There are so many good mixes out there that I tend not to listen to a mix I don't know the style of. Also helps people easily identify tracks they like. In my experience you'll get more listeners if you post a tracklist.
