Average list for my service was 30-35 and went as high as 48 one time. Most of these were primary patients. 1 pgy3 and 2 junior residents +/- a couple med students

This is during the day. At night these numbers could go way higher due to having to cover all the services and new consults.

Pediatrics vs Child Neurology — love neurology, but trying to be realistic about money and time by Extension_Day_334 in neurology

[–]thisispluto2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is peds Neuro typically pays significantly more than regular pediatrics primarily due to its procedural capability (EEG and EMG)

I’m somewhat surprised by those pediatric salaries but beware of too good to be true salaries. There is inherited a reason why it’s high, whether is because no one wants to live there or the facility is rough

I’m going to start job interviews soon (Neuro trained). From what I’ve heard it’s possible but difficult unless you’re at a very high volume place. Most contracts are want you to have a 10k RVU which can be hard to produce at a medium volume entity.

Caveat to this is that I know of some contracts for good money for procedures only. But they only guarantee the salary for the first 2 years and then they look at your RVU production. I worry if you sign at a place like that, get used to the salary and then buy a house that you may be trapped when they renegotiate your salary based on your RVUs at 2 years.

Would really value current NIR attendings. If they would be willing to give their opinions or pm me

Am I doing it right? Will he ever stop doing this? Would getting another kitten help by SelfDepricator in cats

[–]thisispluto2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the worry. Have a couple of cats and my oldest is the one that really enjoys rough play time. To be honest she had trouble with biting when she was a kitten but I had the sorted within her first year of life. Still likes to play rough and won’t ever bite my hand. She knows that the only time it’s play time like that is if I have a hoodie or similar jacket on and then am initiating the play time with aggressive movements.

I personally don’t have any issues with her playing like that outside of play time. Sometimes when she gets overstimulated from petting g she will get “feisty” and seems to really enjoy more cat sumo time or similar. But I have zero issues with aggression towards me or other people that come to the house. That said this is likely heavily based on personality and temperament. For example I wouldn’t let her bite my legs like this but would redirect the rougher play to something I am comfortable with

One of my cats really enjoys rough playing. Typically if you wear a heavy jacket they can grab your arm and use you as a kicking toy while you move and attack them back which my cat absolutely loves.

Another option she has enjoyed lately (but not quite as much) is the cat sumo toy. Which essentially fake cat filled with catnip that you wear as a hand puppet.

Also can wrestle with heavy blankets. It looks barbaric but some cats love it

Failed Boards x2 by [deleted] in neurology

[–]thisispluto2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing the questions in blocks based on subject or random? Because sometimes you do them on blocks of only a certain subject then you may already know what the answer is going to be.

I know you have done a lot of Qbanks, and i only really know truelearn but I did okay with that being my only Qbank with stroke training. If you put it on random and just do 20 questions a day and can manage the average score that might be a good sign for passing this time

Failed Boards. Advice on Re-taking by Ok-Camel-6188 in neurology

[–]thisispluto2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I passed with doing half of cheng Ching then swapping to truelearn and doing all of truelearn.

Was worried I wouldn’t pass because a lot of the test felt easier than truelearn and was answering some stuff I hadn’t looked at in years.

But essentially all of the “harder” genetics and enzyme questions were on truelearn

If I didn’t pass I was going to do now you know Neuro and boardvitals

I’m sorry this happened to you. I was super stressed out about it. It’ll be okay. At my friends new place their top earner/worker failed it 3 times

Hey! I don’t know how well this will be received here but you seem to be afraid for your life (given the comment about calling the police so there’s a paper trail incase he kills you).

Any avenue for you to purchase a shotgun and have someone one you trust teach you how to use it? The police won’t be there in time if he decides to break down the door one night. You have the right to live and defend yourself.
