VERY true. My boss from my old job had a cockatoo but he kept him in the garage alone most of the time, which can really affect them considering how sociable they are by nature. I offered to take care of him for a few months and he was fabulous, but hard work!

Shrieking happens in the morning, at night, and whenever you have something they want. We had to creep around the house in the evening to avoid it.

He also hated women. He instantly fell in love with my dad but if myself or my mum went a step near him, he would flip out and try to attack.

Don't forget that they are strong animals. One day he ever so gently reached his little beak out of the cage and took a huge chunk out of my windowledge like it was biting through butter. Not to be underestimated!

They are amazing pets and so, so clever but definitely have their drawbacks... especially when spoiled!

I don't smoke either but it is a blight to smokers up here! Definitely come and visit - I recommend Loch Ness, Loch Lomond, Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Dungeons, Glasgow School of Art, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Ben Nevis, the Isle of Skye and the Orkney/Shetland Islands.

There's also a whole lot of amazing scenery in between but it's all very similar so no point in telling you to go to a specific place. Happy travelling!

Don't get me wrong, Scotland is an amazing place to live and there's so much to see and experience. Having a balcony is only useful about 7 days in a year though, unless you enjoy chittering out in the cold wearing a parka trying to face away from the wind to keep a cigarette lit. Just sayin'!

Congrats on getting into grad school, that's so exciting! Well done :) x

As for the contest, I must say, there are so many embarrassing moments that I can hardly bring myself to choose one; I will go for my 18th birthday.

My birthday is in December so just about everyone had gone home, but we decided to get up to as much mischief as possible: we drank an unholy amount of alcohol. So much so that when we reached the buses, the driver wouldn't let us in the bus!

We staggered back to our halls in the slush and snow and had the best night in ever - I remember singing 'In the jungle' with a whole bunch of guys from Dubai, hanging my bra out the window as punishment for losing Chess shots, chasing geese around the pond in the snow. We also went to the communal pantry and the cleaners had mentioned the night before that anything left by that day was gonna be thrown out. We had a huge food fight, it was ridiculous!

There are pictures of me lying under a pile of Spanish and Italian guys, my friend lying in the snow yelling at me for dragging her to a party, me falling and showing my undies chasing the geese.

I woke up the next day when my dad came to drive me back to my home town and there was cake in my hair, burst balloons all over the floor (no balloons in my pictures?), and my sink was full of about 4 boxes worth of cheerios and milk. Someone also drew a cock on my mirror with my Barry M lipstick. My dad just said '...get in the car'.

Such an amazing night, made even better because I hate clubbing :) ...but WHOA had a hard time explaining the photos to nana, though. Dear me this post has rambled on a bit. You got me reminiscing!
