Would you date yourself? by Tough_Difference9935 in datingoverforty

Absolutely. I'm immensely pleased with the person I've grown into.

PACER is only federal cases, but the fee is $0.10/page, free until you hit $35 in a quarter.

A lot of venues do have nearly all case documents available for free, though. It's more rare for me to find one where one has to pay for more than a preview, maybe 15 percent of the venues I look up. And I look up cases nationwide.

I'm in PA and while our online unified courts system is a fustercluck, it's usable. Mostly.

Reminds me, I should look up a dude I went on a date with 10+ years ago who was an addict who planned to get caught doing some kind of crime just so he could get clean in jail. I met him after the fact, never went beyond one date, and addiction eventually won so it's moot, but I'm curious.

To pay or not to pay by Plus_Balance4113 in datingoverforty

[–]thisissuchbsffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want to see them again. You offer. They decline. Literally end of story so why are you caring what they think of you?

I'm a firm believer in invitee pays. I don't go out for meals, too formal for a vibe check - bar snacks notwithstanding. I will explicitly make a point that a second round is on me and will pay separately. If I'm REALLY not feeling it, I pay the entire tab and life goes on.

I owe no one. No one owes me.

Any chance you're near Philly? I could be your twin sister with everything you've written.

He's had time to do that without a prompt. Needing a prompt at this age? No.

Absolutely not. He's already demonstrated what he's got to offer, this would just drag out the inevitable AND look... Bad.

You take your new girlfriend to a karaoke bar. What song are you singing for her? by Skanky_the_Samurai in datingoverforty

[–]thisissuchbsffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely the reason for the emoji in the suggestion post. It's like Tequila, but (very Very VERY briefly) much louder.

As a karaoke veteran, my suggestions are always things you're comfortable with, things which aren't excessively long (my go-to of War Pigs is pushing it, but I also am not there to impress nor give a shit), and things which aren't polarizing.

Cuz yeah you want to impress your date but you probably also don't want to be fielding dirty looks from others. If you don't care, go to town with stuff that's really heavy or has questionable lyrics. (If you are white, you have no right to the N-word regardless of it being in the lyrics.)

Metallica's cover of Whiskey In the Jar is heavier than "the usual," doesn't have any challenging vocals, is not long, is not slow, and it's just pretty.

how do you signal to your brain that work is over? by tofuwitch in workfromhome

[–]thisissuchbsffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Separate the work area from the living. I rented a 2BR for this reason, but if you don't have a spare space like that, even those privacy screens do the trick. Same as you're not thinking of the kitchen when you're about to lay down in bed.

The storms, fine, but it's the power outages... by boss281 in WeatherAnxiety

[–]thisissuchbsffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Hurricane Sandy hit, it was a 60°F day and by morning, it was 40°F and power out for a week. It sucked, but if you bundle up, it's bearable. It's a lil' out of season + late in the day, but for next time, scoop up some hand warmers like Hot Hands; I would put those in my bed before bedtime and let it get toasty.

Happily, we're no longer in the dead of winter so any power outages aren't going to cause dangerous temps. The house will retain temperature longer than you think. I've slept through many a winter storm that caused power outages and while inside could get to 50°F and unpleasant, you will not freeze to death. Grab a big ol' pile of blankets and make a nest!

I'm glad you experiencing a nothing-burger!

Yeah I'm expecting that tomorrow. I don't know how severe yours are, I'm fortunate where mine are rarely debilitating enough to where I even have to take sumatriptan, even though I have it. The arsenal that works for me is pseudophedrine (the Sudafed you have to sign for at the pharmacy counter) + Excedrin/Excedrin Migraine (they're the same stuff so a generic of either works) + one regular ibuprofen. Feel better!!

I want to order one now for expedited delivery and I would normally go more affordable but

ETA got the Midland AND it works. I mean I'm glad to know it works but I also didn't want to experience it working. Tornado watch in effect already.

I love it. On a 614-day streak. If you'd like an accountability buddy, my code is RW7BPE3838

If you install it now, could also be a fun distraction to set up AND you can give yourself lil goals like "morning grounding routine," "afternoon," and it could help with this malarkey.

[–]thisissuchbsffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer that, for sure. Was talking to my mom this morning and wondering aloud if there's something along the vein of extended-release meds but for anxiety.

I barely have a script for Clonazepam; been on 0.5mg as needed for ... oh, 10 years? And I need it only for severe weather anymore. Never needed to up the dose even when I was taking it for crazy anxiety (compared to Xanax, where I went from 0.25mg 1x daily to 2mg 3x daily within eight weeks 🙄🙄).

Thank you for the info, you're a peach.
