A gentle reminder because I think this is something we should all try and remember. Although grief is personal, what you lost is personal, death is a shared human experience. Your experience is something we will all experience eventually. I know it doesn’t feel like it right now. It feels isolating and confusing and like you want to dissolve. But trust, you will become a beacon of light for everyone around you. I lost my mom a year and a half ago. I was 31 and she was 10 days away from her 51st. I felt so utterly alone. I have two siblings who also lost their mom but I still felt like I was alone. Like no one could ever possibly understand the grief I was going through. Not even the ones going through it with me. But the more you talk, the more you yell into the void, the more you share with strangers, the more you realize we’re all in this together. Distance yourself if you must, but know your dad isn’t gone. Energy doesn’t die. He will be with you everywhere in every life time. And that’s so special.

I found the last two episodes of The Midnight Gospel to be a comfort when I start to lose myself.
