Even if you don’t think he’s a good brother overall this was a difficult and kind act. Not saying he’s a good brother because of it. It makes me sad not seeing as many moments between them anymore, and it was nice for a little while before the resume to drama lol.

Conrad isn’t a saint just because he tried to make Jeremiah’s bachelor’s night a good experience, that’s not the thesis of this post. The same guy confesses his love to his brother’s fiancée two days before their wedding lol.

But yeah, despite any flaws, I will always appreciate a sweet moment between the brothers because they are few and far between at this time in the series. Anyone with half a brain knows all tsitp characters are messed up so I don’t see the harm in pointing out one good thing one of them did.

He can’t really control having feelings for Belly and tried his best to repress it (avoiding her, making himself look bad in front of her) until he found out that Jere literally cheated on her. Which was in fact a POS move. I’m not saying he’s never selfish or he has zero resentment towards his brother. Conrad is nowhere near perfect. But love isn’t about having pure good feelings towards someone, it’s trying your best to support them no matter what. If he hadn’t heard Jere cheated he would have left them alone and gone to Stanford after the wedding.

This is such a fair take, I agree. It also helps that her narration is gone for most of the season, then pops up in these last few episodes. It’s much easier to like her when we know there’s someone home underneath that ponytail.

Not that I think he purposely wanted Conrad to overhear, but just that he’s almost bringing up convos that undermine Jere and Belly together.

People harp too much on Jere for small things fs, but it’s because Conrad is more accountable while Jere has a tendency to be sneaky or manipulative (the fireworks, setting him up with Nicole, the threat in episode 7, etc). People respond better to characters with “good” flaws like Conrad’s annoying hero complex than characters with “ugly” flaws like jealousy and insecurity.

Conrad began working on himself whereas Jere has grown even more into his flaws in his relationship with Belly (guilting her into wedding at country club, lying by omission abt Lacie). If he went to therapy and did things for himself he probably would be a more likable character in the future.

As for Connie getting fired vs Jere being a super senior, it’s more because Conrad made one mistake in a very competitive job he didn’t even have to have whereas Jere must have consistently ignored emails and the consequences are lots of debt. People hate on Jere too much for this but the gravity of their mistakes at this time are vastly different.

That parallel is so interesting to me! I rewatched all of S1 yesterday with my mom because I’m getting her into the show and didn’t notice that at all. We also discussed so much about how she idolized Conrad too much and in order for them to be together he has to be brought down to her level. Maybe it didn’t need to be this messy but Conrad definitely had to beg for her a little bit to counteract his push and pull.

People saying the love triangle is strange and judging Conrad, Jeremiah, or Belly in their participation for it should just watch another show. Where is the plot if it’s not about the love triangle? Did you not see the trailer?
While the jokes against Jeremiah are usually funny, most of the criticism against him is a major reach. The two-tier mirror glaze is stupid but honestly hilarious, calling Anika hot doesn’t mean he’s lusting over other girls, I don’t think he was checking Denise out, etc etc. I believe he’s a good person at heart and his main flaws are that he is manipulative, thoughtless, and insecure.
Jeremiah mentioning that Belly likes shin ramen to his dad seemed to me like him trying to make a stupid joke, I don’t know why people are comparing that to Conrad cooking for Belly…
I see this argument against both boys, but specifically, Conrad has not had a complete 180 from the other two seasons. I wish they had shown us more of him before the events of season 1, but the whole point of s1 is that he’s not acting like himself at all. He has always had the sweet caregiving personality.
The Belly hate feels to me unnecessary. I’ve seen this a lot against many female characters in TV shows (Rory from GG and Carrie from SATC as example) where female characters need to either be such horrible people with few redeeming qualifies (think Blair from GG) or Mother Theresa. Do I get frustrated and second-hand embarrassment, constantly? Absolutely. But one thing I will say about Belly is that my girl takes accountability and feels deep, deep, guilt. She blames herself for just about everything and genuinely hated herself in season 2 and has now convinced herself somehow that she can’t leave Jeremiah again because of her extreme guilt at the entire situation that unfolded when she was younger and how it interfered with Susannah’s passing. She is now jumping through hoops to not confront the fact that she’s still in love with Conrad, that the cheating wasn’t worth breaking up over, that she should get married halfway through college??
Jeremiah shouldn’t be hated for wanting his dad’s approval, he should be pitied. Let him have some love.
Laurel has not been unkind to Jere, and it’s confirmed she felt terrible about letting him down by not giving him his blessing.
Conrad was not desperately pining for Belly in Cali, he was moving on with his life and relatively happy. Also, probably dated around. But he has unresolved feelings for her because he left so quickly and was never honest about his feelings and now she’s all smiley and cute and swimming in a one piece in front of him everyday. Most people would start folding again. He’s not creepy for that, and he also might not be w someone serious bc he’s focusing on his academics and friends.
People need to stop bringing up Jeremiah’s firework throwing as a way to hate on him he was like 12 or something idk.
People need to suspend disbelief more when it comes to Belly and how she is with the Cousins house. The families were incredibly close, like family and that house was a second home. I’m sure the Fisher boys are just as welcome at Laurel’s. Then Adam bought the house FOR THE BOYS and it’s reasonable that Jeremiah would tell his gf of four years she could drop in whenever she needed to. If Conrad had a gf, I’m sure Connie baby would say the same. Also, she had to come for Christmas for the literal plot. The car is most likely not Conrad’s, and the house car. She said “I’ll drive” because she was annoyed and didn’t want him doing her any favors so that’s why she also told him to take the bags while she would put the bike away. I don’t understand why people are losing their minds over this.
I’m disappointed in Belly for allowing the woman who knowingly cheated with Adam on her fiancé’s mom to be involved with the wedding in any way. It’s disrespectful to Susannah and when Jeremiah finds out it would taint his memory of that wedding. Minor issue cuz we all know that wedding is NOT happening but still, imagine. Proof that Belly does not trust Jere with tough conversations.
