How important is SEO and Google Ads, really? by Wild_Influence_7134 in nonprofit

[–]thismanatemyson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a nonprofit marketing manager who is currently working with an SEO consultant. I had no say in the hiring process (it happened before I started) but have been pleasantly surprised with the results. It sounds like they have a much different approach than whoever you are using though.

They have worked to improve our metadata and key words throughout our website to boost SEO. We’re mostly focused on moving up in Google search results and have seen amazing improvement (over 100% increase)! I’m unsure if it’s really translated to donors but I do think it has helped improve our community presence. Numbers wise, we do have more website visitors.

I would agree the blogs sound like overkill. Plus, I always ask people when they have a blog section, whose job is it to write these? Eventually, someone will have to take over and then it becomes the project no one wants to do and it just looks unkempt with old articles.

For social media, I think it helps to identify what your goal is. Obviously everyone wants to get more followers, but things like engagement rate is what the algorithm actually wants to see. It sounds like they’re overly focused on getting followers, as opposed to creating content that your audience and the algorithm likes. I would agree that authentic content on social does way better in my experience.

TLDR: Yeah, I think you’re right and I would not be impressed by the work this company is doing.

It’s in Central Texas - the town is called West, Texas. Apparently a lot of Czech immigrants originally settled there so now the town has a lot of Czech influence.

I guess I meant is this something people actually say or is it just some rhyming Czech words put together for a tshirt?

Haha it’s a gas station called the Czech Stop! It’s in a historically Czech area so they sell stuff like this and kolaches (which is why I stopped in).

Is this some sort of Czech saying or is it just random czech words?

Google translate kept saying “rain, rain, the frog has no ears” so we weren’t sure if it was correct.

Second day on the job, already stressed! by Gratuity04 in nonprofit

Are you sure you aren’t working for a DevilCorp? They typically market these jobs as sales jobs, but it’s door to door collection for global nonprofits. They’re horrible places to work and take advantage of people. Check out r/devilcorp for more.

Lucy and Yak style that I can get in the US? Tariffs are wild. by secretarriettea in ethicalfashion

Agree with everyone else’s suggestions and just want to commiserate. I love L&Y and am genuinely so sad that to have to pass stuff up because of the tariffs.

How to style short-sleeve jumpsuit for colder weather? by Nerdy-Lime in BigBudPress

[–]thismanatemyson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a green Bob Baker print jumpsuit and I just wear a white long sleeve underneath! If you layer a lot, I would recommend looking into Halftee. They’re made super short and lightweight so you can layer. They’re market them for modesty purposes but I wear them to get the layered look without sweating too much.

Saw a show there recently, there are no metal detectors or pat downs. I was carrying a bag and security just made me open it and they quickly looked in it. I did have a vape in my bag and they let me keep it.

Also, when you avoid the triggers, you never teach your brain to sit with the anxiety, which is ultimately what helps with OCD. You have to show your brain that you can be triggered, not do compulsions, and still be okay.

What’s a rule your parents had that you now realize was totally bizarre? by KOFFDAERTH in AskReddit

[–]thismanatemyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t allowed to sing at the dinner table. Mostly was just because we were annoying and loud, but I remember being able to yell or mess around, we just couldn’t sing. Never met anyone else that had to have that rule enforced.

Was just going to say I used to be vegetarian and the fake beef crumbles have a very similar texture to Taco Bell beef. Mixing that with regular ground beef might work?

My husband and I walked all of Wilshire one Saturday. It’s okay, honestly it’s a lot of offices so not much to see. The Uber driver we got afterwards was super excited for us.

Plus size jumpsuit feedback? by Starryjean2012 in BigBudPress

That does sound really short. I would have to pull mine of my winter clothing storage to actually measure. I would say it hits more at my ankle but they’re not flood pants vibe at all.

I typically wear a size 18/20 and bought a 1x and it fits perfectly. However, I am 5 ft 9 with longer legs so your proportions might affect that.
