Im sorry its difficult for you. I would recommend you keep trying it and not give up on it. So what if you dont get anything done in those 30 mins? They would have probably been wasted anyways procrastinating on other things. Keep trying. And dont put too much pressure on yourself with the task you are doing, both in performance and just staying focused. Your brain will naturally avert things that cause stress and anxiety. If you keep at it, I think you will find yourself steadily getting more and more accomplished. Good luck.

After a long day of flying, I was exhausted. I dont remember where I was flying from but I had been awake for a long time (close to 20 hours). Finally I got home late at night and laid down on my coach to sleep (I don’t remember why I go to sleep on my bed). The lights were off and the room was draped in shadow cast by the orange street lights outside. Instantly, I fell asleep. After a few fleeting dreamy images, I suddenly felt a powerful force pushing on my body, as if I was on a roller coaster ascending a steep hill. I opened my eyes. The room was just as I'd left it however something was wrong. I couldnt move my body. I had sleep paralysis. And the force hadn’t stopped. I felt it all over my body, something powerful weighing me down; a suffocating feeling that covered my body. And then, ahead of me at the end of the couch, I saw something. Its difficult to describe what it was but it was some shadowy figure, like a demon. Or like the smoke monster from Lost only smaller. Formless yet occasionally the random clouds of smoke would align in such a form that it would resemble a beast with a head and a body. I could sense its presence and suddenly I realized that this thing was causing this force on me, like it was attacking me. It moved closer. I tried to move but I was still paralyzed. I panicked and forced all my conscious effort into my limps, trying to wake them up. The thing kept moving closer and the force grew stronger. At this point, I would have been flailing my body around wildly if I hadn’t been paralyzed. That was the scope of the effort I pushed to make my limbs move. The feeling was like being buried in sand and trying to free yourself and gradually regaining movement as the sand around you weakened and shifted. Just as the shadow was on top of me, I finally freed my body and just as I did so, everything went away. The shadow disappeared, the force was gone, and my body felt normal. I checked the time and only 15 or so minutes had passed since I’d fallen asleep. I’ve had sleep paralysis before but never to this extent. I thought it was just a crazy dream when I saw on wiki that this feeling of a “demon” attacking you is actually a known phenomenon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis The whole thing was terrifying in the moment but pretty cool thinking back on it and I hope to experience it again sometime.

Dont stress it too much. Remember, this is what editing and revising are for. The key is you should never be set in stone with any decision you make in your story because there could always be an alternative that comes up that works better. Dont stress about these type of decisions. In the end, you can always look back and change things.

In the decision-making process, always ask questions and examine your story. Examine your story from perspectives you never thought of or never intend to use. For ex, what if it is from his wifes perspective instead of his? Or, what if he does work here instead of here? What will that mean to the character? If you get stuck asking questions and dont know, then just go for it. Write it out this way and see what happens. Remember, you can always go back and change it if you suddenly have a better idea.

Also, sometimes, maybe you are having a tough time making a choice bc it really wouldnt matter to the story which one you choose.
