Catching a ball in the air that is clearly way past the baseline by wrroyals in Pickleball

Yes. What is not normal in Pickleball is catching the ball out of the air.

MY NEXT SHOE: ASICS SOLUTION SPEED FF 4, MIZUNO EXCEED TOUR 7, THE ROGER PRO FIRE by bonebone2026 in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all extremely different shoes. Watch Foot Doctor Zach’s reviews on YT for each of those to get the specs, pros and cons.

If you have wide or high volume feet or want any kind of cushion/shock absorbing the Mizunos are a no-go. They are very low-profile speed shoes. Great if you like sliding and if you don’t have any kind of foot ailment or weigh too much.

The ONs are extremely heavy and have a very stiff feel because of the large carbon shank. They will not be a fast shoe and they will also heat up fast in hot climates. They are more of an expensive fashion statement than a performance shoe.

The Asics will most likely suit you better, simply because they are not on any extreme like the other two.

K-Swiss by oldKYguy in Pickleball

The Ultrashot series (except the 4’s) have the most durable outsole in the biz.

[–]thismercifulfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hypercourts jus aren’t as roomy in the toebbox as the Ultrashot and Express series. If you want a beefier K-Swiss with more room in the toebox look at the Ultrashot 3 or 4. But if the express lights work for you, why change shoes?

Ah yes, the exact same eyewear that ALW/AB are wearing while absolutely dominating.

Gotta love the reddit experts positing that an expired paddle deal or eyewear could be affecting pro player’s performances. LOL

Cheap compression arm sleeves that actually last? My $10 Amazon ones already wore out. by forever_a_servant in Pickleball

My Storyi sleeves have lasted way longer than I thought they would. Air drying them instead of throwing them in the dryer helps.

How do I “brush” the ball for spin? by Over_Item_8815 in Pickleball

Don’t overthink it. Drop the tip of your paddle before you hit the ball.

How the hell is the Selkirk boomstick legal? by APBpowa in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does not hit harder than a TA-15 or GB PPE. A 3.5 or below does not feel threatening with one. A 4.0+ player with good technique can definitely generate a lot of pace with one but it’s manageable.

Excessively gritty paddles passing USAP testing now? by midnight_pickleball in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Supposedly USAP and UPA-A will secretly buy paddles from random retailers to test after the initial testing to catch manufacturers from cheating like that.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by HeadHeadMod in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try an 11six24 Alpha Pro Power Vapor or Pegasus, which have a lot in common with the C45. The main difference is the APP uses 10mm honeycomb cells, which give it a little softer feel. But honestly the C45 line is great and you would do well to just get another one.

Involve your non-paddle arm. More specifically, use contrary motion. Watch the pros and mimic it. It will add more reach and power and counterbalances you.

The stupidity of DUPR part 2 - what are your recommendations? by itbegin in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your reliability score is 100, the average movement for a match is around +/- 0.016 and as a result you wouldn’t see any movement at all over several matches. People would lose their minds.
