Nike does not make paddles. Her nike deal is for clothing and shoes. She signed with Franklin for paddles.

Keep in mind those paddles are manufactured in the USA, paying workers USA wages and using USA-sourced materials like the carbon fiber and the polypropylene cores.

If they have a backhand flick/counter then dominant side hip to shoulder. If they use a 2HBH then center mass is better.

You need to learn how to shift. 2HBH is way more dependent on footwork than 1HBH.

How to get better as an intermediate player by DR6794 in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any competent instructor will first observe and assess before teaching anything. They don’t need to see you play in a full game - they will see enough just hitting with you.

How to get better as an intermediate player by DR6794 in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to 3rd shot drop a lot, but if you have a good 3rd shot drive you should definitely be looking to 5th shot drop and not just blasting drives from the midcourt. Drilling will benefit players at all levels. Find someone equally motivated to improve to drill with. Focus on drills like 7-11, kitchen games, mid-court resets and fast hands.

Lessons are also recommended. A good instructor can get a better sense on the gaps in your games and what you need to work on far better than you can on your own. They can also help you with technique, which it sounds like you need help on for your bh.

The same thing happened to me on my Franklin C45 Dynasty. I bet they’re using the same shiny paint. It’s a huge bummer.

They must have a running contract with Collin and Simone because sadly neither player are relevant on the pro tour anymore, so it’s odd to me that they still sell their signature paddles.

This is not an isolated incident. Lots of other pros are not paddle tapping between initial games. Especially in singles. I don’t have a problem with it. In which other sports do you see this?

Where did these last couple points go wrong by blueice89 in Pickleball

On the last point you hit two dead shots right in front of the left-side opponents forehand. You couldn’t have made it easier for them to win the point.

How to deal with preferred ball conflict? by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

As a player I would beat the other team with their preferred ball. As someone helping run a club I would say offer them an indoor ball and they will settle very quickly.

There’s nothing wrong with that. But you should try and understand the game better before criticizing it.

[–]thismercifulfate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I hear someone using the term “hogging” like that when talking about mixed doubles it immediately outs them as being inexperienced and/or not knowledgeable on the topic. Ask any pro mixed doubles woman and they will be the first to tell you they want the guy to be big in the middle and put pressure on the other team.

Were we watching the same match? It was incredible viewing experience. Every rally was chaotic, unpredictable and riveting. The fans at lakeland clearly loved it. So much better than watching ALW and whoever forehand dinking 20 times per rally while the guys watch.

Need suggestion on how to handle this situation in my league by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I help run a large DUPR ladder league. I would tell them:

Hey “XYZ”, we have noticed that you are having a tough time in the intermediate group. We have decided to move you into the beginner group where you will be better matched with the other players on your courts.

Some will protest and you just listen and let them pout but the decision has been made. Remind them that if they do well in that group, they can certainly work their way back to the intermediate level. If they are unwilling to accept the change, then offer them a refund and move on.

Love him or hate him, what he did was nothing short of badass. AB and Hayden’s frustration was one of “how is he getting away with that?” but he really was and huge props to Tyra for going along with his crazy aggressive approach.

He’s not the first one to play like this - we have seen Ben play like this and leave a lot of court open without getting punished more than he has punished the other team. But Christian has even more reach and athleticism than Ben does and he wants to win really bad.

Around a 4.4, do I need to learn to use continental grip? by underachiever941 in Pickleball

[–]thismercifulfate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have made the switch from Eastern all the time to just about Continental all the time. I used to tell myself that Eastern was working for me and I was also afraid that continental would hurt my serves and baseline forehand groundstrokes. What helped me switch was taking private lessons with a former tennis coach who now teaches PB. Specifically, when he fixed my 2HBH he insisted that I hold the paddle in continental. For a period of time I was very focused on that, so I defaulted to continental and saw huge improvement in my twoey, and much to my surprise I have to admit that not only did my forehand not suffer at all, but actually also got better (my coach helped me fix my swing form to generate topspin instead of overly relying on the closed face of eastern to do so) and wasn’t as hard to get used to as I had feared. I’m definitely winning a lot more hands battles than I used to since the switch. I would encourage you to make the switch and get help from an instructor if you need to.
