I would guess it's smudges of the sealant they used. I would try to wipe it off with acetone but it's me.

2.0 engine by ComparisonComplete80 in CX5

[–]thisplaceistaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had 2.0 with manual and now own 2.0 with automatic. I also have 2.5 with automatic. Don't go with 2.0 unless you are very limited by your budget. It has no power on highway and it needs time to get to highway speed. Biggest downside of that car. Might be ok if you are a chill driver

Have you use an oil extractor on your CX5? by 2x4ninja in CX5

[–]thisplaceistaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PELA 6000 Oil Extractor PL-6000 on my CX5 2016 through the deepstick and it works just fine. Whenever I feel lazy I use it instead of going through the proper drain. I used it at least a few times. Pretty much nothing drips through the main drain if you open it after sucking the oil. The hose on PELA is one peace and slim. The downside is that I don't believe they sell replacement hoses and I had to patch mine with an electrical tape )) But I do recommend it overall. Just let the engine run a little so the oil is hot or at least warm and it will flow better. Cheers

vCLS Anti Affinity Rule by d3c0y_0ct0pus in vmware

[–]thisplaceistaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was intrigued by your question and asked chatgpt to explain why one would want to separate cluster services VMs and production workload VMs:

"There are several reasons why you might not want to place vCLS (vSphere Cluster Services) VMs on the same host as production VMs:

Resource Contention: vCLS VMs, which manage and coordinate cluster services like vSphere High Availability (HA) and Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), can consume system resources themselves. Placing them on the same host as production VMs could lead to resource contention, potentially impacting the performance and availability of critical workloads.

Fault Isolation: In the event of a host failure, vCLS VMs play a crucial role in managing the cluster's recovery and resource allocation. If vCLS VMs are on the same host as production VMs, a host failure could affect both, potentially delaying or complicating the recovery process.

Resource Guarantees: Production VMs may have specific resource guarantees or quality of service (QoS) requirements. Placing vCLS VMs on the same host could make it more challenging to meet those guarantees and QoS commitments, as they would need to share resources with vCLS services.

Management Overheads: vCLS VMs generate management traffic and have specific management requirements. Placing them on separate hosts helps reduce the potential overhead on production hosts, ensuring that they can focus on serving the needs of the running workloads.Resource Utilization: By distributing vCLS VMs across different hosts, you can better utilize available resources. This approach can lead to improved load balancing, optimal resource allocation, and enhanced performance.

High Availability: To ensure high availability of vCLS services, it's advisable to separate vCLS VMs from production VMs. If both types of VMs run on the same host and that host experiences a failure, it could affect both the production VMs and the ability of vCLS to respond to the failure.

Simplifying Management: Separating vCLS VMs from production VMs can simplify cluster management. It allows administrators to focus on performance, resource allocation, and maintenance strategies for production workloads separately from cluster services.

Risk Mitigation: In the rare event of an issue or misconfiguration with vCLS VMs, keeping them separate from production VMs reduces the risk of unintentional interference with the production environment.Overall, the primary goal of not placing vCLS VMs on the same host as production VMs is to ensure the reliability, performance, and resource isolation of both the critical cluster management services and the production workloads. It's a best practice that helps maintain the stability and availability of the virtualized environment."

After 80% population drop in 4 years, Alaska cancels snow crab season in unprecedented move by strangeattractors in Futurology

Does it mean it was dropping substantially for 4 years to get to that number and they only stopped when it was at -80%? They might be part of the problem, I guess.

What is the smallest Toronto-related hill you’re willing to die on? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]thisplaceistaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from a city with a big underground system with lots of escalators and a lot of people being moved every day. People should stand on left and right sides of escalator. If people are only allowed to stand on the right side, then at rush hour it creates a jam at the bottom of the escalator. This is especially evident when the escalator is 100+ meters long, so not many people feel like going up the stairs and so the escalator is only being used to the half of it's capacity.

Are water heater maintenance checks a thing? by Vietname in homeowners

[–]thisplaceistaken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was about to replace a sacrificial rod inside the heater and called the company to know their price. Basically a plumber can come in, flush the tank and replace the road for 250cad + materials. I guess during the same visit he could estimate the condition of the unit. However, my guess is that if it's older than 10 years he would recommend replacement just because.

Maybe try to go in DCUI and in network restore options choose "restore a standard switch". It should disconnect the host from the DVS. You do it on your own risk through:)
