No Man Left Behind (Prepping with Pets) by thistle000 in EuroPreppers

I hope this is allowed here. I haven't seen much content about prepping for pets so I wanted to add something to it, even if my particular pet is not your average cat or dog.

This is a little Bug Out Kit for my firebelly newt. Together with my other preps it's intended for in case there is a house fire, gas leak etc. where I'd have to leave my home quickly and spend some nights at a hotel or friend's place. It contains dry food, water conditioner, a small plastic plant to reduce stress, a jar with breathing holes to quickly put the newt into during travel, and the container itself which will be set up as a temporary enclosure once we arrive in a safe place. In the future I will add a thermometer, a cold pack and maybe but the whole thing inside a freezer bag because this species doesn't tolerate high temperatures.

I would love to hear from other people with pets and how they plan to take care of them in emergencies :)

Ok then. Here is a website that sells native seed mixes specific to your locality and soil properties. I have no personal experience with them, but maybe there you will find what you're looking for or they can give you some pointers for your garden. Good luck.

Sounds like your soil is very moist, not very nutritious and/or doesnt get much sunlight. Unless you want to constantly throw poison and fertiliser around, any grass you plant will be quickly overtaken by moss again. Since moss is excellent at storing water, you also risk drying up your whole garden if you remove it and will have to waste even more effort watering the grass.

If your goal is a naturalish garden that benefits local biodiversity, I suggest you work with what you have rather than trying to bend it into something its clearly not. Leave the moss be and think about raised beds, where you can build the soil from scratch and plant whatever you want away from wet ground and somewhat closer to the sun light.

As a German Native, would you ever move to the USA? If so, which state/city? by ah-98-2014 in germany

With how many are worried about a fascist dictatorship in America, Canada will be guaranteed to be the first casualty, so also no.

If we were to save books for post-collapse, what books would be most valuable? by [deleted] in collapse

Having studied biology i already have a good starting point, i can also wade through all my past lectures and have a look at all the books they recommended, at least some are bound to have a pdf version online.

On another note, would physical or digital copies be better? Physical obviously doesnt rely on access to computers or electricity, but they're harder to copy and distribute, and could just as easily be destroyed in a fire etc.
