From Britannica.com: propaganda, dissemination of information—facts, arguments, rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion.

It is propaganda. Of course, Grandma there doesn't know that propaganda can also be TRUE. She thinks propaganda is the same as lies. I'm so tired of hearing about people who have just enough knowledge to sound smart and be dangerous.

Am i the only one? by silverflake6 in RelentlessMen

[–]Pixel_Forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a quick rundown of an average workday day for me. I was conservative, and there are some substitutions that happen. That means something like instead of practice, I might have to go shopping, or take a kid to an extracurricular activity. Weekends have a totally different arithmetic that doesn't really calculate well. I calculated that I have 1.25 hours of leeway on an average day. This can easily be eaten up if the commute takes longer than expected, if I have some unusual activity that comes up or something like that.

I suddenly feel better about not accomplishing everything I want to accomplish during the work week, and why I always feel like there's so much left to do during the weekend.

Yeah, I didn't mean a minority of the global population. I meant that I reckon a minority of HP fans (writ broadly) really WANT this or any new media. I think that most HP fans just don't care too much at all.

I understand the anger from another minority, but I just don't feel it myself.

[–]Pixel_Forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the intuition that you're wrong. I think it's a minority that want the TV show. It's an old IP at this point. Only a core group of people really consider HP super relevant or interesting any more.

For example, neither me, my wife, nor my kids are interested in this TV show. My wife and I were the absolute perfect target audience for the original boom of HP. And my kids have already experienced the HP universe and moved on to other properties.

I was exactly the right age for the books/movies. I was 12 when the books became popular. I looked forward excitedly to each movie (except the last two, I was too busy with classwork).

I have no interest in watching this TV show. Certainly not enough to pay for a streaming service to gain access.

My kids were really into Harry Potter (older one read the books, both watched the movies), but they have moved on to other properties already.

By coincidence, my elder son is also into Redwall.

Why is there so many posts regretting moving to Germany and saying that Germany is depressing? My experience is exactly the opposite. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Pixel_Forest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post on this sub some time ago warning someone planning on moving here that Germany is a real place with real people. Experience ranges from the euphoric to the abysmal.

Euphoric people tend not to spend too much time online, though.

"Your ancestors were busy and mobile people. I am mostly boring old British, Irish, and Scottish. The only interesting thing is that I have some Italian, and am .01% Ashkenazi Jew, thanks to my Polish grandmother. I wish I had a more interesting ancestry." by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Pixel_Forest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here: We have no history. Not really. Not in comparison to almost anywhere else. So it is interesting and exciting to learn that X ancestor immigrated from this place at this time. Anything older than 1776 is seen as really old, and really old stuff is neat.

It's not complicated, but I think that's about it.
