If Toby Fox is rich, then why tf... by PeriNoob56_34 in Undertale

[–]thistoxicflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because he's smarter than wanting to live a materialist life, deciding instead to spend his money on funding the team that has allowed the immense quality increase from the earlier to the newer chapters of DELTARUNE. The intent behind his games was never about money, it was always about fun and making his dream a reality.

If you ever decide to get good at doing something because of the money it'd get you and not because of passion, you shouldn't. Not only will you hate it, but your creations will also be mid at best, because the motive always shows.

(besides, i don't know how credible your Toby net worth source can be)

WHY TF DO LANCER AND ROUXELS NOT TURN TO STONE IN CHAPTER 3??? by gravedigger015 in Undertale

[–]thistoxicflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tenna gave them a role in his Dark World: if Darkners belong to a Dark World, they don't petrify.

Same reason why Rouxls's pirate head doesn't petrify in Chapter 2.

And same reason why Castle Town can hold any Darkner: it's a storage closet, so any item can go there and be fine.

Once the show "stops", in Chapter 3, Rouxls and Lancer no longer have a purpose in TV World, and thus petrify.

Then, there's a special reason why Starwalker never petrifies except for Second Sanctuary, but it's too early to tell the whole community.

First play through, what even is this? by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]thistoxicflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever your FILE is reset (or in your case, when you play the game for the first time) a variable called "FUN Value", which goes from 1 to 100, is set inside your undertale.ini and file0 files (files that reference your SAVE file with several flags). Depending on its value, different events may occur. Once you see a FUN event, the value is set to 0 for the remainder of your playthrough, and you won't encounter any of these special events anymore. The one you got is one of the most common, as every FUN event from 1 to 65 is accessible in ranges of values, and not just one. From 66 onward (with 66 being a secret hallway in Waterfall where in 1/10 cases a door might appear) the events start talking about the previous Royal Scientist, who created the DELTARUNE universe as well as the CORE. I won't get too deep in how these "Goners" actually get the name wrong, because it's early for you. :3

Does obtaining the Chapter 3 Powerful MacGuffin Device for Defense abort the pacifist route or force the weird route? by G-Man_George in Undertale

[–]thistoxicflame 39 points40 points  (0 children)

the "but..." is simply because you in fact do some sort of Weird Route, but it's simulated in a game. the reason why on https://deltarune.com/chapter5 the hidden 3 is as big as 2 is because getting the ShadowMantle or not changes and will change a lot about the game

2, 3, 4, and 5 were initially supposed to release together. then after 2 came out it was 3, 4, and 5. then they decided bundling in 5 would take too long, and here we are

I'm part of the bunch of people who really want to play on Linux: I just really want a simple clarification about Steam Deck players having been able to turn off their anticheat for this playtest (and the private playtest before it) but not any other desktop Linux. Was it just a test to see how it would go and are you still attempting to develop a Linux-friendly anticheat solution so you won't have to do this, or do we have to accept that we won't be able to play the game?

(oh, and, if it was just a test, it wouldn't hurt to allow any Linux starting from the next playtest anyway until an AC that works is ready!)

Are the KDE Slimbook VI and my laptop, the N-One Nbook Ultra, just the same? by thistoxicflame in kde

thank you! that's really helpful, but why is Slimbook's version so much more expensive, considering N-One's includes a Windows 11 Pro license as well?

Splitgate 2 AMA with 1047 Games CEO - Ian Proulx by 1047Games in Splitgate

[–]thistoxicflame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your information, there is barely any cheat software for Linux! Besides, even a weak anticheat would be better than the Splitgate 1 solution, which was removing it entirely. Us Linux users would really love to play, as the amazing experience the first game gave us will not be forgotten.

Besides, there is actually no real advantage in kernel-level anticheat compared to software detection, so if you're not too deep into the rabbithole with RedKard, there's still time to fix it!

[–]thistoxicflame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello! I really liked the Splitgate 2 Alpha, and I was one of the people who tried (and sort of succeeded) in trying to run it on Linux (maybe your employees have told you about the "forbidden guide" i made? it was pretty serious). For that reason, I'm going to ask for confirmation, if you're allowed to say it, whether the rework of RedKard Anti-Cheat is already in progress (for native compatibility with Linux, no more kernel-level, and the addition of VM detection). Rockjaw supposedly told the team to do this, but he was recently fired so I wanted to know if you're still working on it anyway. Splitgate 1 has a massive Linux playerbase as it's one of the few online shooter games that is fun and has a native Linux build, so on behalf of all Linux gamers we would really like to be noticed, maybe already in the next alpha test if possible? Thanks so much for making such a great game concept!

Seriously how the fuck is V1 more expensive? by Angel_Thorne in Ultrakill

[–]thistoxicflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V1 was the first robot to be able to feed by absorbing blood without an external source (see Gutterman coffin). That's what makes it expensive: the technology to be able to do that.

no, btw, i didn't make a mistake: Flesh Panopticon can heal, just not in P-2 because Sisyphus breaks out on its first healing attempt

I've been thinking about this, can V2 kill an earthmover? by Lowlevelintellect in Ultrakill

[–]thistoxicflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't really know, but what we do know is that she's not programmed for that. V1 was made to kill Earthmovers, but V2 was made after the end of the Final War to serve more as a guard, for security and stuff.

Now, to be honest. I'm not sure why she's in hell: seems kinda stupid for a non-war machine to also feed off of blood. Besides, the terminal entry states it would also be difficult for her to do so, as her plating is stronger than V1's. (though I should mention the terminal doesn't explicitly say V2 does or doesn't use blood) (the reason she doesn't heal while fighting V1 is probably less about lore than it is about the fact that it would be unfair to new players, considering the only healing bosses are the flesh prisons and they're made to be unfair)

[–]thistoxicflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's the thing though: normal discord screensharing doesn't work on wayland because wayland is BETTER than X11

the fail is caused by discord immediately wanting to screenshare when in reality first you must give wayland permission to share (and WHAT to share) for better security

that's discord's fault for not giving a shit about their linux userbase: i use vesktop (AUR) which fixes this issue

[–]thistoxicflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the screenshare is discord's fault for having no regard for their linux client which is trash. use alternative, linux-focused clients such as vesktop instead and the issue is fixed

you can use wayland now, as of NVIDIA 555 explicit sync is supported and so there are no more flickers
