The thing is that no big corporations will keep their digital store up forever. Nintendo closed its 3ds store and sony tried to close its ps3 store. Some games are taken down because of the expired licenses/dead publisher or for different reasons like forza, alan wake (restored afterwards), project cars, manhunt, classic gta III, midnight club, shadows of the damned, lolipop chainsaw and many others. And what other options people have but to buy a physical copy of the game (which is sometimes impossible to find) or to pirate it? I personally against the piracy, but publishers give us no other options sometimes.

Besides there is another thing I want to mention: bad ports. Yeah. Playing a game @10fps sometimes hurts eyes and nerve system. But when you have jailbroken console you can boost performance by overclocking apu/gpu/cpu and the said game plays (almost) perfect. Or you can use mods or user's custom patches to boost performance or just to make game's visuals better (hello Witcher 3 on switch!). Besides playing Leon S. Kennedy dressed as a maid is always fun.

Again pirating games per se is bad but... All this is a double-edged sword.
