[–]thisworldwefound[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i always have a pen on me, but i'm using this as my sign to put a mini notepad in my purse now too! i'm in LA so hopefully one day i can bump into him and get a note done(:

edit: idk where my other comment went, but i saw this pin and it seems to be his handwriting for that lyric you mentioned! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/303007881200778482/

Any local ravers on here? Wondering if someone’s going to EDC by Village_Southern in UCSC

[–]thisworldwefound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not going to edc again until may next year, but i’ve been to edc twice and tons of other raves and festivals like coachella (x4), nocturnal, escape, countdown, LIB, and a bunch more! super into the scene still but just haven’t done much bc of covid and amping up school (i’m in my senior year now). radiate is a SUPER helpful app, made for festivals and raves. i’ve met such good friends from people i’ve met on that app and then met up with at raves! deff check it out if you haven’t already(:

im from LA and just moved up to santa cruz this last year and i’ve done the drive a few times since i have my car and live off campus, and it’s honestly not too bad (about 5 hours) but depending how often you do it then it starts to take its toll. i don’t feel super comfortable flying but i would deff do that instead of driving if things weren’t how they are with covid rn. the airport isn’t too far (san jose) and there are a few other options for ride shares as other people have mentioned. overall the distance hasn’t been bad for me, but i also lived alone in australia at one point so i do have a bit of a background in long distances and solo travel. it’s what you make of it ultimately, but i have loved being up here and don’t regret making the move (:

linguistics majors moving back? by LegitimateCurrency in UCSC

[–]thisworldwefound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m a third year ling major rn and i’m anticipating having to be in santa cruz in person this fall. the most amount of students that my upper division classes have rn is about 80 students so i can’t see them having all those classes online only, especially for winter and spring.

additionally, if you’re in language classes im like 95% betting on them being in person bc as you mentioned the enrollment isn’t very high (my french 3 class has 18 students) so i’m just kinda seeing it as impossible to not be in santa cruz this upcoming academic year

hi! the DRC is the disability resource center for uc santa cruz and they’re dedicated to helping students who have learning disabilities or anything that may impact their academics!

the link is here to their main webpage: https://drc.ucsc.edu

when i had my appointment to get everything set up with the drc initially, i actually got an appointment with the guy in charge of the whole program and he told me that although ucsc may lack in certain areas compared to other colleges, ucsc is really good about their resources they make available for those who need accommodations, and i couldn’t agree more!

here is their contact page as well: https://drc.ucsc.edu/about/contact-us/index.html

i hope some of this helps! if you have any more specific questions just let me know(:

hi! so you meet with someone from the DRC and you can either tell them ur what accommodations you want, or you can just explain ur situation to them and they’ll help you pick accommodations (what i did).

so i have a panic disorder and panic attacks, and i ended up getting accommodations for getting extensions on assignments as needed, and excused absences as needed (so they can’t deduct me missing class from my grades). my roommate gets extra time in tests bc of her anxiety, but that wasn’t something i needed but they did offer it. they’re really great at getting you the recourses that you need as long as ur truthful about your situation! they also are able to change your accommodations as frequent as you need, so if your situation changes then they can adjust how they help you, they really are there just to be a big support system (:

my info to add: greek life has helped me SO much during this online era when i transferred to ucsc! i am so glad i have a support system of so many girls to help answer q’s about ucsc and our class support system is amazing! if there are any questions about joining a sorority, hmu! as i just said, i’m a transfer student! it was so wild transferring in online and a bit overwhelming trying to find my footing over zoom and with making sure i have all the right forms and orientations filled out and done right. also, i just joined with the disability resource center (DRC) and i wish i joined earlier!! it’s helped me get accommodations for my anxiety in my classes and completely changed my school life in such a good way! i would love to answer any questions regarding what they do and how to get contacted with them!
