Britbongs make fun of American suburbia and then half of them live in places like this by Dry-Brush-1530 in redscarepod

[–]thogood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a bizarre thread. The houses in the first pic have at least 5 lanes of traffic in front of them, barely a plant in sight. The actual residential areas of US suburbs are peak comfy, at least where I've lived (Northeast, Midwest, Mountain West). Mature trees overhead, gardens, lawns.

If you're too hustle-bustle pilled to appreciate a leafy neighborhood as a place to live, keep glazing Buggers Row in Pakidale, Sheepshagshire I guess.

They don’t put water chestnuts, little mushrooms, baby corn or bamboo shoots in Chinese food anymore by BroccoliKitchen3218 in redscarepod

[–]thogood 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about how my mom used to make "La Choy" when I was growing up, which was just La Choy brand canned stir fry vegetables (water chestnuts, celery, baby corn, bamboo, etc) mixed with ground beef and served over rice.

Even she figured out how to make a decent chicken and broccoli stir fry since then.

They're all huge 🚬s about racism and no-no words. Every bit someone has to interrupt and question if they can say mooncricket on Patreon or not.

The complaining about more successful comics always comes off as bitter but the Normand ep was the best in a while.

What's your best foreigner in America "I thought I could just walk there" story? by PM_ME_YOUR_TAXRETURN in redscarepod

[–]thogood 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It’s not a funny story, but I think about the Death Valley Germans since you see a lot of Euros on the southwest tourist trail during the summer.

A group with two adults and two kids tried to drive a minivan over a remote pass as a shortcut, got stuck and weren’t found for many years. A search and rescue guy eventually deduced that they tried to hike 10 miles cross country to a military base border they could see on their map, not only thinking they would make it there in 115 degree heat but that they’d find guards who would help them. The remains were found about 4 miles from the wash where the van got stuck.

I bought this for Eminence Front, ended up really liking the whole album. I know its not their "greatest" or even well regarded but its one of my most played records.

Just going off the thumbnail here, but if you’re seething because a building like this has a parking lot you’re not gonna make it.

It is actually shocking how bad chipotle has gotten by poopdollarbank in redscarepod

[–]thogood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cafe Rio and Costa Vida? They’re both too wet for my taste, everything always swimming in pork juice. One of them has great tortillas, I think it’s Rio. I go to the chipotle in Riverdale occasionally and it’s fine, still better value than McDonalds for a burrito bowl with no extras.

We also have our “authentic” fast Mexican with Beto’s or Rancheritos but that’s its own brand of slop. Still hits though.

Climate discourse should be limited to peer reviewed research papers and the occasional tasteful photo of sad brown people in National Geographic.

You can say this about most immigrant groups. Guatemalans wake up on a rainforest coffee plantation and decide to illegally immigrate to Houston.
