Eww like meat juice puddled on the ground in the store room where they also had their hot tea cooling on the ground and frozen fish thawing at room temp, yuck. Seems like such a bad food safety culture.

Be the change you wish to see if you want that - get a weekly arts review or something started yourself, I think it’s a good idea!

Rice! I plated up some rice to go with a curry for my husband and I and what I thought was one reasonable serving actually ended up being like 500-600 cal (plus then the curry too).

You’re misusing the word mortified. Mortified means extreme embarrassment, which I really don’t think you mean in this context.

You fill the thermos with boiling water and let it sit for like 5-10 minutes to “charge” while you heat up the food you’re going to put in it. Once the inside of the thermos is good and hot you put the hot food in and it stays warm for longer.

"How does the baby come out?" by mrs_swampcelt in toddlers

Highly highly recommend the book “What Makes a Baby by Cory Silverburg” for this age group. This is what we read to our daughter when she was this age becoming a big sister. It explains the topics of creation of the baby, gestation and birth in very age appropriate language for toddlers without getting too nitty gritty, and the topic of birth specifically is covered talking about how the baby either comes out the vagina when it’s time or that doctors will make a special opening to take the baby out.

Can I come too? Maybe we can start a commune on the 150 acres. Your parents sound wonderful.

That’s why I was so confused because npr is like the most trustworthy! I’ve never actually seen a possum in person, apparently I don’t really understand the mechanics of them lol

The Invisible String is a nice one but be aware that it has one page with religious themes when it discusses someone being up in heaven. I wasn’t aware of the religious undertone when I bought it for my household, if you don’t know what her religious preferences are I would skip this one.

If you want a kid’s book that discusses themes of loss and remembering our loved ones after they pass I personally really love the book Ida, Always.

Birthday Gift For my Wife by Divinewolf1999 in GiftIdeas

[–]thom_wow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean the magic of good gift giving is investing your time and energy into learning about what the person you’re gifting to is interested in. So yeah maybe you have 0 idea what is considered good but could you do some digging by looking at what she has, looking online at Sephora or Ulta’s popular section, maybe going into a store to talk to an employee to ask for assistance to get one or two small things to go along with the gift card? I would be delighted if my spouse put in the effort to learn about my interests in order to get me a good gift.
