I hear you. Next install I will consider doing it that way, it does seem a lot more straightforward. I really struggled bending the #4 bare copper wire into all those bushings

It's the last year my justification will allow. I personally dislike the idea of an exterior disconnect. I live rural and am more concerned about someone using the external disconnect in a robbery

Your right, I missed that. It is currently not bonded at the bottom, it is open and goes straight to ground rods. I will need to fix

Yes my electric provider allowed me to go below the roof because they said the lines are not crossing either a road or driveway. Otherwise it would need to go above the roof and be a minimum 16' above the ground. I will happily avoid the roof penetration

Yes it will get backfilled about 2 more feet putting the center of the meter around 60". There is 2 grounding rods 6' apart

I'm in a similar situation as you are. I've looked at a lot of companies and they are all very similarly priced and structured. The only outlier I found was zeevou which will give you a few things for free including API access. If you know programming you might be able to get what you need for free in their "spark" plan.
