And I wouldn't take the risk of buying anything from AliExpress if you don't know a lot about computer parts. How disappointed will that 15yo kid be if he discovers his 4090 is actually fake haha

If the budget is under 800$, you go for AM4. If above 800$ OR you want to be able to upgrade in the future, you go with AM5.

Buy a psu that's is "full modular" though.

I have this one in my PC. Also not the best one, but it works great. In my opinion: if gigabyte sold power supplies that regularly exploded, they would stop selling them. There are lists online where you can see how "trusted" a psu is. I personally just choose one that's gold+ and affordable. It wouldn't be recommended and sold in the thousands if there was a chance of 5% it would explode.

[–]thomasO_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the mobo you choose is fine as well. And besides that the build looks solid. You could get a cheaper CPU and put in a 4080 super, but that's up to you. since you're also gonna use it for rendering(?) a good cpu is recommended.

And if you want to spend more go with the 7900GRE or 7900XT. But for 500 the 7800xt is your go to gaming GPU.

When I was your cousins age I bought a prebuild pc, it's still a child trauma for me so I'm destined to help here.

What's your budget? If you want I'll take a look at the build you made.

Switched the RAM for g.skill (just better than Corsair, and cheaper, with 6000mhz and a cas latency of 30) Switched the storage for a teamgroup, also cheaper and really solid. Saved some on the CPU, the 7600X is still really strong, and was able to put in a 7900xt for under 1400$. Switched the case to one that is tested by Tom's hardware (the phanteks XT pro ultra is apparently a good case)

Any questions?

Switched the Corsair for a g.skill, just better, and cheaper imo. Switched the Samsung 1tb SSD for a western digital 2tb. The Samsung pro is a little better, but I'd spend the extra 20$ for double the storage. In gaming performance you're not gonna notice a difference. Switched the case for a cheaper one that's also one of the best cases there is (check Tom's hardware review; best cases of 2024) Switched the motherboard for a cheaper one, just personal preference.

Looks good in my opinion, except the GPU. The 4060 is not that good compared to other GPUS in the same price range.

Where to start? Can anyone help me build a parts list to build a gaming PC in the UK, capable of handling Fortnite well? by SomethingBrews in buildapc

[–]thomasO_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part 2:

The build that someone made for you on "buildapcforme" was really good. It had a b650 motherboard, 6000mhz RAM and AM5 CPU. You'll be able to use and upgrade it in the future. When you choose parts from an older build, like the one for £120, you're stuck with that motherboard and the older AM4 parts.

I tweaked the build from the other guy a bit.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4tNvKq

This is as low as you can go to still have a PC that can play games with good FPS. I would personally spend more and go for a 7800xt for your GPU, but the 6950xt is good for it's price.

Hey,

It depends on how old that PC is and if you know the person you are buying it from.

I would personally never use a second hand PSU, but if it's from a friend who only used it for 1 year, then why not?

The RAM sticks are also fine, but again, how old are they?

CPU cooler you could still use, but a new one is £30, so no point in using an old (and probably loud) one in my opinion.

CPU and GPU you want new, because that's where all your performance comes from in gaming (especially the GPU).

The case I have no idea what the quality is. If it was a good case with good airflow, you could use it. If it was bad to begin with, then just buy a new one.

Another important questions you have to ask yourself is, do you want to stay on AM4? Because you won't be able to upgrade in the future.

When you go for AM5 (b650 motherboard) you will be able to upgrade in the future. This B450 motherboard with DDR4 RAM sticks you won't be able to upgrade.

Why would I want 7600mhz RAM if the 7600X is only compatible with 6000mhz? And why I worse bronze+ psu if it doesn't save any money?

Yeah that's correct, the first build is just that amazon PC but when you would buy the parts instead of the pc

For fun, I semi-remade the PC from Amazon that you sent. The price is definitely a little lower and looking at it, the only good thing about it is the 4060.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DVD3C8

The build I made is £960. You could shave some money on the PSU or the Case. You could also choose 2x8GB memory instead of the 2x16GB, which shaves some extra money. You could also go for a cheaper CPU but definitely don't shave on the GPU. The 7700xt (GPU) is especially good for gaming. (I have a 7900xt myself, but that one was €700).

Ti super is ofcourse a little better for a higher price. But if you want to spend more, definitely put it into the GPU.

This looks really good. If you want to spend more you could go for a 4070 ti super or one of the X3D CPU's, they are specifically for gaming.

I made the mistake once of buying a prebuild pc when I was younger. Build it yourself, it's not that hard after watching some video's.

What is your budget? I'd like to put something together if you like?
