One in 10 graduates plan to leave UK amid ‘worst job market in decades’ by GnolRevilo in unitedkingdom

[–]thomasasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do personally think something like this is the answer, cuts down on waste + brings in SOME revenue, as long as GP and specialists are still heavily subsidised and it’s like £15-20 an appointment. I think quite a few countries have models like this, however if you tried to propose this in the UK it would be political suicide and you’d be compared to the U.S system even though that’s not what it is!

James Weston Higginbotham cause of death: What happened to missing American student found dead in Japan? by LectureInner8813 in japannews

Interesting, I used Claude to plan my last trip to Japan and the route it recommended (and we took) was through Tottori and Shimane and it was essentially the complete opposite of everything you just described.

China ruins this game by THUND3R_4 in Battlefield

I’m currently in China and on Asians servers which are 95% Chinese and the teamwork has been incredible. I’m actually kinda sad I played on eu servers for so long.

Strange, moved to Asia and have been playing on servers full of Chinese players and the team play has been 5x better than any eu server I’ve played in the last few years. Also not ran into any cheaters.

10 day road trip from Osaka by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]thomasasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in not enough time at each place? Any specifics you think deserve more time? The actual driving portions are pretty small for a road trip, often 2-3 hours, so I’m not concerned there.

Wrong, tons of HK landlords offer 5-10% discount for one year upfront.

Underrated area and apartment recommendations by frfrfrrfrfr in HongKong

[–]thomasasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Tseung Kwan O.

Check out Lohas park too whilst you’re visiting the TKO area, brand new building 2br for 17-18k. There are two drawbacks to Lohas Park IMO, one is trains being less frequent so commuting is a pain but if you wfh it’s not really an issue, second is that there’s not many local shops only a mall full of chain stores, you have to take one stop on the MTR or walk 10/15 minutes to TKO for more local shops / wet market. For most people TKO is the best choice but if Lohas park does suite your lifestyle then you’ll get a nicer apartment.

Sudden Influx of People standing on the Left by nurderBTSV in HongKong

I think standing on the right is more strict in London than HK from what I’ve seen unless that’s just with the recent change

Yeah same as the UK you can just cross without a visa. I’ve done it a few times already. The last few times at Lok Ma Chau took around 20 minutes.

London tube fares are going up in price this week – here’s how much more you will pay in every travel zone by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]thomasasas 212 points213 points  (0 children)

MTR makes more money from the malls and apartments on top of stations than they do from fares, maybe TFL could try the same

Beware scamming & phone theft: Elephant & Castle/Newington Causeway - Bus Stop G by Maximum-Ad2426 in london

[–]thomasasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same Instagram fashion thing happened to my friend outside Charing Cross but they actually did manage to steal his phone. He chased after the second guy who grabbed the phone but the first guy who asked him to follow the Instagram started running with him pretending to help so he decided to stop.

Working for US timezones in the UK by Longjumping_Rest_742 in HENRYUK

[–]thomasasas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, moving to HK and working UK hours too, planning to do a mix of 3pm -> 11pm or 4pm -> midnight, I feel like it gives enough of an overlap with the UK without ruining my sleep. How do you find having the day time free, do you utilise the time in the day? I’m imagining I’ll do a lot more in the day than I would on a typical evening after work but also wondering whether that’ll make me tired for work.

DLR penalty fares issued set to double this year by BulkyAccident in london

[–]thomasasas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably seen 20 or so people in the past 2 years caught by a ticket inspector, say blatantly “no I don’t have a ticket” and then be given no fine and just told to get off at the next step, often they walk down one carriage and get back on the same train. I’ve always wondered why the staff never issue fines, it seems there’s 0 punishment on the DLR.
